I just realised that i'll need to cook all my meals at uni and that i can't cook anything at the moment, even my cookies turn out nasty. I'm vegan so i'll have to have self-catered accommodation.

    Where do i start?

    I can fry.

Basic pasta, rice and noodles. From there you just need your 5 fruit and veg and whatever flavourings take your fancy. Anything will be cooked by boiling in 15mins maximum. Vegetables will be flash fried in 5mins.

Buy some stuff and ask us for meal suggestions. :)

Haha cheers people. I just got a book for my birthday: "Easy" vegan cooking. I'm going to make every single thing in there, starting with the soups. 21 days of soup :)

Made a vegan chocolate cake today mmm it was alright.

    I prefer marmelade on toast.

No. Marmite's place is on crumpets with lots of butter. Not on a piece of toast.

Gotta disagree. Cheese and beans go with crumpets!

Loads of things you can do, if you go to holland and barett or a place liek that they have loads of readymade nutroasts, soysages, cheezes, those kinds of things...but dont overdo them, theyre not healthy in large quantities!

You can peel a few various veggies-potatoes, carrots, onion, parsnip, whatever you fancy, cover them with sunflower oil and stick em in the oven to make a lovely roast

Rice and pasta are good, spag bol is quick and easy, just add more veg to replace meat or buy a meat alternative to add. Big tesco stores do a vegan vegmince which is lovely in pasta sauce with peppers

    Salads...always a good option

Uh, vegan pizzas incredibly easy to make...pizza base mix from tesco or wherever, tom sauce ontop, vegan cheez grated, various veggies ontop, baked for about 20 mins

Thats all i can think of for now

Oh and what is Miso? They had none in Sainsbury's, is it the sort of thing they would have in a health food store?

Miso is a traditional japanese food produced by fermentation of rice, barley and/or soybeans with salt and filamented mold YES MOLD (the most typical miso is made with soy instead)also used in some chinese foods. it is genaraly a kind of paste for using in spreads or sauces.it is usualy salty but depends on the mix. japanese or chinese markets should have it.

So's cheesy sweetcorn, but that won't be good for Shirley, as she's vegan.

Best get a Vegan cook book from the local library. Tofo is a good meat substitute. i like tofo dogs occasionally, but I remembered vegans cannot have cheese as I love twenty tons of cathedral city on my tofu dog. Being vegan is very difficult. It is easier being vegetarian. Milk from cows doesn't harm the animal and cheese is the byproduct of gone off milk. Leave the milk to go off, boom, it is cheese. Why do people become vegan? What is the reason, I am confused but interested to know?
