heres the deal. i germinated some seeds, planted in red party cups about 1/4 inch deep abouty 2 days ago. now, most havent popped and the head part of the seed (the casing that falls off) is on top of the soil and no plant has popped thru. i try to find the root in the soil and it either is gone, or has no leaves and is just a little, small root that can hardly be seen. does this sound familiar? i just thought maybe someone has done or seen this before and could tell me what the problem was/is. the casings are just sitting on top of the soil in two pieces (like they split apart in half) but no seedling has breached the surface. i have planted many successful seedlings, so im kinda confused. any ideas? thanks
If the seed came out of the soil by itself then it is doing what needs to be done, wait a little while more and the seed casing will fall off and expose two small round leaves.
Someone saw your cup and ripped the plant up because they knew what it was? has happened to me before i believe. i had a plant that sprouted and i went the next day to check on it and it had just disappeared. but the soil and pot was still there.
