Through quite a few years of not stretching and not caring about my body I am at a point where the only way I can meditate is through the Sieza (sp?) position. I don't mind it but am trying to figure out how to work up to sitting in the Half Lotus or Lotus position. Any stretches or ideas on how I can accomplish this? I do realize it will take a little while no matter what, but I really want to know how!
Yes! First, stretch out your legs. Any way you can. Then stretch your spine both ways. Do this for a while, you'll start to feel where you are tight. Then, jump around and kick invisible ninjas. I swear, there's nothing that stretches me out more than pretending to fight off 100 ninjas. Martial arts are the shit. After that it should be pretty damn easy to sit any way you want. That's just a basic warm up. Come back when you got this down, mon :] peace + fun JAH
invisible ninjas LOL Seriously, TeknoShaman, do what stalk says, but GO SLOW especially at the beginning. Remember, stretch out your legs and your spine FIRST. Kicking invisible ninjas comes much later. And don't forget to breathe deeply while stretching. What I do is stretch in time to my breathing: Inhale (about 3 seconds) and then exhale and stretch at the same time (3 seconds) then hold the position for a few deep breaths.
