To clarify things I will now try and explain

The reason why I’ve delete some of Rat’s (and others) threads is clearly stated in the Politics Forum Guidelines which is posted at the top of the main politics forum page.

    It states -

As often stated this is not a bulletin board it is a place to debate politics.

For that reason cut and pasted articles or links should be used sparingly and more as a way to highlight a persons viewpoint rather than as a replacement for a persons viewpoint.

People that consistently post articles or links without comment may find their posts removed?

For example the last post of Rats I deleted was -

“Ron Paul on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart 6-4-07 (VIDEO)

He is no commenting on what Ron said or anything Rat is just linking to something.

If Rat had made some comments as to what Ron said, his views on them and the reasons why and had then said something like – you can see the full interview here - link – then the post would not have been deleted.

I read or see things everyday that have an influence on what I think we all do, but that’s the point they have an influence they don’t speak for me. Someone else’s views might coincide with my own but that doesn’t say they are mine because I’m not them - I think for myself I don’t need others to think for me.

Rat has said often that he wants people to think for themselves but I ask all of you is posting a cut and paste jobs or a link to someone else’s words without any comment thinking for yourself or just giving up thinking?

To me it seems like the latter.

I’m much more interested in what you (the person posting) is thinking than what Ron thinks – why – because I can have a discussion with you, I can ask for clarification I can ask you to explain, I can have a debate and so can others on the forum. If Ron wants to come to this site I’d be happy to talk to him but as far as I know he is not here so I can’t ask him questions and as much as I shout at the screen while this video plays he still doesn’t reply.

    Do you see my point?

PS - And anyway that rule is only in place here (as far as I know) so you can still post such announcements elsewhere.

    With Regards

    Balbus
