    Hey everybody I'm new,

I've always wondered why signs are determined at the time of birth and not the point of conception. When someone is conceived isn't that when their existence truly begins, and not when their born nine months later? It does not make sense to me.

how the hell would any of us know the time we was concieved for the most part. That isnt generally documented unless we was very planned..and our parents was a bit odd! FOr the majority..we was all mistakes and our parents jus realized one of thier shag fests resulted in a bundle of a joy. haha

That's true but doesn't that make the foundation of astrology flawed? Birth is just another stage in your life; its not your true creation. What I am trying to ask is what makes birth so important, and shouldn't the position of the stars at the point of conception have some effect.

It always makes me laugh when I see people with birthdays in mid November because that means that they are possibly the result of a passionate Valentine's day. Their birthday is in November but I still consider them Valentine babies.

Until the child takes its first birth it cannot be said that he or she is completely separated from the mother.

Not only that, but part of the old logic was that astrological effects are caused by the light of the stars and planets affecting us. So, until you are born, you are in darkness.

Besides, conception is difficult to document. At best you may have a date or even a time sex happened, but how long after sex does conception happen? Then you have to think about adoptions, or if the mother has multiple partners over a short time. What if the mother has one partner, but she has sex twice a day every day?

No, birth is easier and more practical, and 99% of astrological natal technique are based on birth.

There ARE other kinds of charts. There is horary, mundane, and electional none of which have anything to do with the birth of a person.

Our son was conceived on valentines night and
I knew straight away I was pregnant......that would
make him an Aqua, but he was born in november
and is definately a typical Scorp!!

You can make a chart for any moment in time for anything from the start of a business to the birth of a country. A birth chart of a human is calculated from the moment the child takes it's first breath. Basically it's just common sense.

I don't think that planets inprint anything on us. The way Astrology works is through synchronicity. Simply put; when something happens such as a birth of a child, simultaniously other things happen at the same time. It is a science of coincidences. We imply meaning to the possitions of planets from observation.

You can drop a knife on the floor lets say. The symbolism of the knife is cutting, and a kitchen tool. At the moment the knife drops, other syncronous occurances happen often in other places that the person who dropped the knife knows nothing of. They will have some connection to the symbolism of a knife. The symbolism connected to the planets is confered to the product of a moment of time.

My son was an extreme preemie. (15 weeks early) He was born capricorn, but his due date was on the aries/ taurus cusp & he has all qualities. More so of the aries/ taurus.
