The other night i was driving home from work when i got pulled over by the cops. when i asked the cop what i did he said that i swerved. i told him that i was tied and that i just got done work. so he take my license and goes back to his car. when he gets back he ask to check my car. when i asked him why he told me again that i swerved and that my eyes appeared to be blood shoot. not knowing what to do, i let him chek my car. under the drivers seat he finds a bag with a little pot in it. i think it was left over from a nickle bag i bought the other week. he tells me that i could go to jail for it. but instead he gave me a ticket and dumpted my pot on the ground. now i have to go to court and proble pay a big fine. i was just curious if this is common in pa and what to expect at court.

Unfortunately in this country if you or your car looks like you are anti-establishment, they will find any excuse to pull you over as they already made the judgment that you are holding something. For future reference, buy a small lock-box and put your stash in it. They can't open locked containers without a warrant.

What you can do is fight him on the fact that he said you swerved, once. He pulled you over for something that happens to most drivers. I think it is awesome that he let you go with just a ticket, be thankful you do not have a record.

i think it's a bad idea to put a bunch of legalize pot or grateful dead bumper stickers on your car. it's like a jungle out there, and instead of going with stealthy stripes, y'all choose neon green and orange polka dots. the idea is to blend in, at least when you're doing something illegal :)
I got a disorderly conduct ticket once for something pot related. i paid around 500 dollars on the fine and 200 something in court costs.

i dont think that it is right that the cops target you for what bumper stickers you have on your car. if i want to put a greatful dead sticker on my cars, i sholud not have to worry about being herrast by the cops. where do these people get off

When I went to court to fight a speeding ticket, the cop who pulled me over didn't show up (most of the cops don't show up cause they're lazy asses) and a state trooper filled in his place. Little did I know (I was 17 at the time, and apparently my father didn't know jack shit as well), if the cop that pulled you over isn't at the court hearing you should be let off. So if a replacement comes, you should mention the fact that you if the cop that pulls you over isn't there that you shouldn't be charged. I don't know exactly where it's written (this unknown little right), but it is there. Maybe do some research and really get your facts straight. But if the cop doesn't show or a replacement doesn't come, all charges should be dropped...I suppose you have to point this out though because I was left in the dark and only got my fine reduced.

It's not so much that they hate people with older cars or even Grateful Dead, but that the group in both instances is more likely to be in possession of drugs or break the speed limit if you think about it. Grateful Dead DOES attract a more hip group of people, I mean, it's what they're known for. They target beat up cars because the people who own them are usually younger, and have less of a personal budget (hence not having a BMW or something), and a young guy's more likely to have some type of drug on him (or break the speed limit) than like a 70 year old. If you were "swerving" like they said, especially at night, he likely thought you were drunk or high and driving.

I couldn't agree with your more. Over a decade ago, after years of pull overs, when I got a hair cut and traded the VW bus in for a chevy pick up with an NRA and a DARE sticker on it suddenly cops quit looking at me.

too bad it wasn't a chick cop...you might have been able to get away with it.

whenever i get pulled over it's always a guy cop so i never get in trouble with the law...

It baffles me how philly cops will pull you over for something like that meanwhile our murder rate in this city has skyrocketed in recent years.
