Do you use a dictionary for your posts ?

Does anyone else use a dictionary when posting on Hip Forums ?
Is proofreading a part of your posting experience.?

I think I use it almost everytime I come on the forums. I really can't endure the thought that someone might think I am a poor speller, and I always read my posts carefully, and correct any grammatical errors or punctuation.

Is spelling important to you, or using words that better describe your ideas and opinions ?

 

Oh, it's important to me to spell words correctly and to use correct grammar. I don't want to come off as just another stupid, ignorant teenager, so I always proofread my posts. I'll occasionally pop over to dictionary.com really quickly to make sure I'm spelling a word right if I'm having doubts, but I don't always have a dictionary around when I'm making posts.

 

i only use words i know very well here...haha...those words are very simple words i'm a very simple man

 

I tend to google certain words if I'm not sure...Then,google gives me a line at the top of the page with the googled words correct spelling asking- did you mean _______?
But, my grammar sucks too, so I try not to take it too seriously.

 

Haha... I know I'm REALLY bad at spelling, but it doesn't bother me... *shrugs*

 

I don't use a dictionary, but I make sure to use proper grammar in my posts. I know I am a smart person, and for some reason it is important to me that I don't let people think otherwise.

 

I have bad grammar too... haha, but I know that I'm intelligent, and I don't feel I need to prove that to anyone...

 

I sometimes use a dictionary, very rarely though, but sometimes I have to as English isn't my first language.

Dutch is my mother tongue..and I don't understand..
certain words here..so..I use a dictionary online sometimes..
does not bother me..not a bit even..
whether someone's spelling or grammar is no good..
and intelligence..is a word in the dictionary..
I know some facts of life maybe..
but...I always had 2 left hands..
if you ask me to knock a nail into the wall..
it's possible..I will hit my hand..instead of the nail

This honestly fascinates me... I could never imagine that someone would use a dictionary just for posts here. Worst case scenario... you misspell a word... who gives a shit?

 

In my case, I tend to take people more seriously when I see that they know how to write. I just want to be taken seriously. This isn't the case when I talk, though. I can't think fast enough to choose the best way to phrase what I'm trying to say while I am saying it, which usually results in me sounding like I don't know what I am talking about.

yeah.. my chinese language speaking is some what lacking in skills these days.

i took french in highschool and learned most the spanish i know from kid shows.

i know some sign language too

No. I could care less. i figure if some people are too stupid to put a lil effort intom common sense deciphering then dont bother responding. haha

 

gosh.. i almost need to get out the english to french dictionary for that one! but i can see it's a translation.

 

I edit to avoid verbiage, I oft type too much.

I'm not a stickler on spelling and punctuation. Most of the conversations are casual, so it isn't as important. I don't speak proper english all the time, so I don't write that way in a communal setting.
