Okay... so I have blonde hair naturally, but like a year ago I dyed it permenantly red, and about 6 months ago I got dreads. Only problem is, is I now want to get rid of the red, I want my hair blonde again... :S I tried this bleachy hair lightener stuff, which just resulted in them turning sorta pinkish with white roots and even worse than before, I mean, they look gross. I really don't wanna try a hairdresser because round here they're scared of dreads... crazy.... so... I dunno :S I really don't wanna cut my dreads off though! Does anyone know how to get rid of the skanky red dye??? Thanks! xxx
red is basically impossible to get rid of. The only way you're going to get your blonde back without the orange/pink results is to dye your hair a darker color, like brown, and slowly high light it blonde........but with the dreads....I don't know what to tell ya. It's hard to put high lights in dreads. How did you dye your dreads in the first place?
firstly, there's nothing wrong with being a redhead dreadhead, i've had lots of compliments but if you do want to get rid of the red tone that's left over, you need to neutralise it by using a blue / purple toner that will cancel out the colour. i know you said hairdressers are scared of dreads, but maybe you could arrange a consultation with a colour adviser just to chat about what you should do with it, if you want to cut out the guesswork x x x

But red dreads look sexy as hell...! I went from pitch black to blonde. It depends on your hair though.. i have heard horror stories especially if you backcombed your hairs not gonna be in the best state for bleaching! If you wanted to do it yourself, why not do a tester dread see how it takes. On one that's fairly well hidden! Incase it kills your hair and you get breakage or something. I've dyed and bleached mine atleast 5-6 times in the past 9months for job interviews and whatnot, haven't had any problems, if anything it's made my knots a fuck of a load tighter!

eh? im confused....i had red hair when i was younger and all i did was bleach them and that took out the red.
i dyed mine red about 20 times over time though, so i had to bleach em loads to get it all out... yeah my hair's in really bad condition, but luckily as it's dreaded you can't really tell, and the dreads stop it from breaking...

I've got a few blue dreads underneath the blonde ones, and I like them. But I had the red ones for ages and every month or so I'd get blonde roots at the top which looked skank, so... yeah they're mostly blonde again. Yeah I should get a pic, I'll borrow my sis's camera...
