Is it me or is there some truth within the runes of my mind? London weather seems to be getting hotter and hotter and we seem to be narrowly missing a much needed shower. 2007 has been a good example of when London and only London has been stuck between air pressure which in turn affects the rain. So we end up with no rain and more sunshine. I know that we all like sunshine and that we would gladly wish for more in the winter. But this no doubt has an affect on people's lives. My concern is, this year will be the hottest yet But that is a prediction. Why does London get so much sunshine when the rest of the uk seems to get showers regularly? we in London now face a drought and the government knows it. So they have given the goahead to transform seawater into drinking water. We are losing water because of prolonged periods of sunshine. We get little or no rain. The ground becomes super saturated and holy fuck, we get floods. I look on the weather forecast and saw how London isn't going to see anymore showers for atleast four days tops. We might get a little shower but it won't be sufficient. But the rest of Britain gets the rain it needs regularly and I can now see that because London is a big city, perhaps our pollution is creating a localised greenhouse affect. This affects cloud patterns across the southeast and London itself, the epicentre. I believe there is a link to pollution and lack of rain. What do you tiddlypeeps think?
Hmm.. i just think God doesn't like London to be honest, argh cockness *cry* Nah you cockneys are alright.. ..
how much weed did you pack in that last one john? 9 days ago it was raining its bollocks off in london and since then there was a week of good sunshine and then showers -
The London area is just a large sprawling metropolis. There's nothing scientific about this but all that stone and concrete will definately be storing the heat, making the temperature higher, don't know about the rain though, maybe a lack of greenery (trees and grass? Don't know.)
maybe the inevitable higher temperatures and the low pressure, hot air rising sweeps away SOME of the rain. i'm not a climatologist, obviously.
Had loads of rain up north as you've probably heard. I think a month's worth fell in Birmingham in a 24 hour period. Heavy here Newcastle way too, Friday it must of been going 8 hours strait. Just downpour. I think Johnny and Mama are on to something about London's weather. That does seem to make a lot of sense. I reckon the dodgy air conditions trap a fair bit of heat too. All that smog malarkey.
Hey, be damn grateful. No fucking trees = no need for rain. Your water is piped in from other, less ugly and urbanised parts of the UK so there's little danger of a local shortage. Wear some shorts and get a tan while it lasts! We've had a week of solid torrential downpour. do you want that? I'd gladly send some of our rain your way as soon as I perfect my weather-control-motron.
