So...

I did morphine for the first time in years two days ago. And last night I woke up in the middle of the stratching my arm. And today when I woke up, its all swollen and there's a big red circle bigger than a quarter. It really hurts to bend my arm now too. Is this something worthy of a doctors visit or should I just wait it out for a few days? I'd post this in opiates but I feel like I know you all better.

And just so ya know, I'm taking this infection as a divine kick in the ass telling me to stay away from morphine so no lectures please.

Well..it may help to just go ahead and say..
If you mainlined it, shot it up..that sounds like an abscess, usually you get those from missing the vein and shooting under the skin or into a muscle.

If you didnt shoot up..maybe you scratched too hard in your sleep. Put some neosporin on it and give it a day or so..if its not getting better..go to the doctor.

Im a regular opiate user, non intravenous, and ive never gotten anything like this..maybe an adverse reaction?

 

if you got health insurance no reason to be in pain so i would go to the doctors.

 

Yeah I used intervenously. It's not bruised under the skin or anything like I missed the vein, because I didn't miss the vein. It's just the skin all around the injection hole is all red and swollen, really tender and itchy as fuck. It looks infected but I'm not sure if that's something that'll just go away on it's on or something that requires antibiotics? Bah, whatever, I think I'm just overeacting. Thanks for the response!

 

I would just go to the doctor, infections can be nasty

 

I know but my doctor is a family friend so it's kinda weird being like "Hello Doc, my arms infected from using drugs! Oh yes, of course I can babysit your children on Thursday! It's not a problem!" Yanno?

Yeh you should go and see someone even if its not your family doc.

 

Since you didnt miss the vein it is probably an infection from the syringe. Put something like neosporin on it and if it gets filled w/ puss then go to a doctor b/c then it needs antibiotics before it gets too bad.

It doesn't really look that bad. It hurts more than it looks, but here ya go Young Deadhead. I doubt this will gross you out.

I had morphine at hospital.
I tripped out while trying to piss and started shouting that there were people everywhere.
Then i got so god damn itchy they gave me an injection to stop the itching.
Still it would only give you a certain ammount every 5 minutes, i tried to get morphine 164 times and recieved it 51 xD
I was a fiend in hospital, they would only let me go once i was able to stay 2 days off the morphine xD

 

Sorry but that's infected. You need antibiotics. I can't tell what type of infection it is from the picture but it won't go away before getting pretty ugly.
