After seeing a post by beachbum7, and the fact he prefers to barefoot on sand, what do you guys and gals prefer to barefoot on?

I've not been barefoot on the beach in years (mainly because I'm not a huge fan of the seaside), so I can't talk about that so much, but seeing as I was barefooting on my camping trip this weekend, I can honestly say that right now it's short grass growing out of firm, but soft mud/ground..

What about you? what do you guys prefer to walk on, given the choice?

When I was camping this weekend, I went into the childrens play area of the site to have a look around. It had the most amaizing surface. To look at it, it looks like normal road tar, but it's springy and soft to step on... it felt amaizing.

Each time my foot made contact with the ground, it would continue to sink for a few more centimeters, almost as if the ground was cradeling your foot... I swear, if the world become more acceptable to barefooters, and more people went barefoot, all the pavements in the world would be replaced with this stuff :D

I have to agree about the cold tile floor. Most grocvery stores have then and they feel great when coming inside from a hot parking lot!

A cool wet sidewalk after a rain storm.
Cool tile in a grocery store.
Lawns, not a lot of it where I live, but I make do with what we do have. Soft earth but not too mudy.

Muddy country paths :) Don't always go walking in the country though, so the rest of the time it's just good old fashioned ordinary pavement.

I love barefooting outdoors on nature trails and in forest settings. Asphalt is never a problem but it's not the same as connecting with mother nature. Newly fallen leaves are amazing but can hide the contours of the ground always step straight down and don't kick or you can be surprised by a root. This autumn check out the amazing change of season take a forest hike. you'll be glad you did.

Spongy moss is cool. And those beaches that are made of that mucky redish clay. You sink right up to your knees
