All images during the Republican National Convention protests: Stop videotaping my brutal behavior toward peaceful protesters!! Big Brother IS watching... a cop that clearly enjoys his work: www.saveourcivilliberties.org
Wow....those cops man. I remeber Jim Morrison said something like theres some cops who just try to do their job but its scary when they have a righteouness in what they're doing. So the cops beat up peaceful protesters too??? what the heck? Then the cops are the ones spreading the Violence!!
yeah I bet the cops love it when theres a big protest. They don't have to go digging people outta the ghetto to beat on. Everyone comes to them and they get to pick and choose, and for once they get to beat some white folk. YAY police! protecting and serving right?
Those cops must have seriously been made fun of as kids. I've always wondered what drives certain people to grow up and be so angry with innocent people that they have to be violent with them when they have a different opinion. Then again these pigs are supposed to be protecting us right?
ignoring the aptly named "bugman" who seems to share with the police a blatant disregard for the U.S. Constitution, I'll say about the cops as I've said before: their primary function is to "protect & serve" those in power, the elite. When a growing movement of domestic citizens confront this elite (in our case, a corporate elite), the police, acting on reflex and to a more pathetic degree, their own deformed ideological persuasion, act as the strongarm of the power-structures who form the laws, and hence, provide the pigs with their jobs. So yeah, being a police officier is indeed a political job in and of itself. In fact when about a dozen "counter-protesters" supporting Bush showed up, there was a photo of a cop giving them a "thumbs-up". So, law-enforcement is by nature a rightwing career, even if subconsciously, of protecting the state which is why police tend to have such contempt for those who disagree with establishment philosophy. I mean, ask yourself...how many lefty tree-huggers choose to become cops? Most cops that I ever heard of were highschool varsity football players who never made it to the NFL (huge generalization of course-lol). Non-activist people don't seem to realize that the cops, even tho they protect us (sometimes) when we call them--if a burglar was in our house or whatever...but their first obligations and loyalties are to the power structure which they must bow down to, and always do---"it's their job" as they always say, as if trying to excuse their repressive tactics. To be a police officer, you must have a rightwing, Darwinist attitude towards the world and people at large. You must behave and think as though everyone is guilty, or at least potentially so...until proven innocent...that is, if, *cough cough*, they are given a fair chance to. And here's the catch: sometimes you'll be "proven" guilty even if you are innocent. That is the law of our land. Democracy in truth is an illusion. We live in a quasi-capitalist, corporate governed Plutocracy, although there are many other more accurate descriptions...that's just one. Dictionary definition of Plutocracy: government by the wealthy. a controlling class of priviledged aristocratic policy makers. I won't get into the hypocrisy and the anti-american behavior with which the police behave except to say that the First and Fourth Amendments of the Constitution are continually, and now...increasingly under assault. And now with the Patriot Act...
You're absolutely right, law enforecement is bullshit. Who needs cops anyway? Or laws? When 500,000 politically movtivated people, some with intentions of violence, flood an already overcorwded city to protest, there's really no need for anyone to be concerned is there?
Max, when you say stuff like that, all I can think of is patting you on the head and telling you it'll be ok. Here's a good start for ya: pick up a newspaper, or check out some online media outlets, including some surprisingly good articles in the mainstream press. Should you do that, you may find that the protesters were indeed not seeking to cause "violence" but to show a massive opposition to repressive policies through a time-honored tradition of "non-violent civil disobedience". Please think your thoughts out before blurting out childish rantings that are reminiscent of a kid yelling when he's denyed a toy he "really really wants!"
I honestly see no need to copy and paste my ENTIRE FUCKING POST when it's already posted loud and clear right up above...only inches, actually.
So all 500,000 protesters only want to take part in "non-violent civil disobedience" right? Sorry. Over 150 cops have already been injured in attacks by so-called "wanna be" anarchists who only showed up to smash faces, or try to anyway. We need the police there to make sure the stupid people don't try to turn the protests into a riot. To think that all of the protesters are like you is naive.
I hate it when protests get violent! it happened to a few i've been to (the last Halifax G7 being the worst) and its not fun! Most people are there for the cause and non violent but there always seems to be a few trouble makers who make it bad for everyone! but i must say the cops often overreact! i cant tell you how many people ive seen getting plowed to the ground and arrested for no reason! they like to target the organizers and people with cameras to! but anyways i guess is what im trying to say is theres a lot of power and energy involved in protests and its always a combination of both sides that make them turn ugly! like so many things its never one sided
"Over 150 cops have already been injured in attacks by so-called "wanna be" anarchists who only showed up to smash faces" Really? That's weird...that's the first time I'm hearing anything about this after reading tons of articles from alternative AND mainstream news. Maybe you have some insider knowledge that nobody else has. Please...man, you need to stop running off your tappy little fingers so much and pick up a book. Over 150 cops were "injured by attacks"? I assure you that never happened, otherwise it would be all over the headlines. Put it this way, I would've known about it because...well, I was there. Last but def. not least, some cops dress as "anarchists" to cause havoc to give the REAL anarchists and other protesters a bad name. They are called "provocateurs" and yeah there were present at these demonstrations, but didn't have much of an effect, being that the energy of the protests were high and spirited.
I personally thought the pictures were sad. It's pretty sad that the right to free speech, and the right to assembly have been so easily taken out of the constitution.
I prsonaly think protestors would be pissed off if the police were pleasant and did not arrest anyone that caused trouble.. a boring old peace rally were the 'pigs' are not opressing free speach ... what a yawn. I wanted to see water hoses and little old ladies being knocked to the ground.
Matthew, I'm sorry, but that was such a ludicrously stupid remark, that if I were you, I'd be quite grateful to be able to hide behind my computer screen and alias.
my name is matthew no alias...the way i put it maybe a little crass.. What i meant was that those pictures show one view ...the one that is sort of expected. I am sure that it was not as 'hellish' as is being made out. Why are people gloating on this thread how great the pictures are ?? They love it because it proves what pigs the police are. Well the view they (may) wish to perpetuate anyway.
Hey Inagoda, trying very hard to respect and understand the fact that you're extremely young, I'll be as nice as I can. But I do have to say that every single post I've ever read of yours has been full of ignorance, wanna-be arrogance, and well, just not very intellectually thought out. It's not about activists not taking responsibility. The concept of police provocateurs is nothing new. Nor are their tactics. These FACTS are just that: facts. There is documented evidence to support it. I have documentaries on VHS showing that these things do in fact happen. I know that you're probably stuck in a small little area where everybody within a 50-mile radius has the same exact opinion on just about everything, but please, for the sake of your own individuality, do your own research because you may find that maybe, just maybe...you could be incorrect about something. And in this case, as in everything else I've read that you've written here, you're quite wrong. "Hey max, if I had a crock I would fill it full of shit and call it this thread." Uh well, then you have the option to not come in here and post!!!
