How long has this site been around?

How long have some of you been here, and how long have the forums been up?

really cool to go on the archive.org wayback machine and look at the way things were.

1996 was the first year i believe.

i have been a member since 2000.

 

the link goes to the old hippy.com site, not the hipforums (the two are closely related)

i can't remember when i first posted, but it was way back before we had to register usernames and passwords. which led to a problem of poeple impersonating each other, of course.

lets see...i can't really remember the month or year i first posted, but i know it was either when i was in 8th grade or 9th, and i graduated highschool in 2004.

its 2007 now, so thats three years. so i've been posting maybe 7 or 8 years, since anywhere from 1999 to 2001 (i wish the school years made more sense in relationship to the calendar years....it would be a lot easier for me to keep a more sensible chronological order to things!)

been using the same name the whole time, pretty much. you might not have guessed that, though, since my post count is relatively low. its wierd, a year or two ago all of a sudden i went from thousands of posts to negative posts literally overnight. still dont know how it happened, but i know that while the posts werent all erased my post count never jumped back up to where it should rightfully be. wierd...but it really doesnt matter. i come and go as i please, and sometimes take days, weeks, or even once in a while a month or two away from posting here, and honestly post counts mean nothing.

but yeah, this site has been around for a while and has seen MANY changes. i'm just glad we no longer support banners for sites selling bullshit legal highs and stuff like that.

 

I was here as Relayer in 05, and before that I had another name in 04. I came here in 03 but never posted, a friend showed me the forum but I didnt decide to start posting until 04

 

it's cool to see a well established site/forum/community
so for the creator/s of this site i truly offer my respects

 

Who are the creators? Do they post as we do? I would like to see the creators post a thread, so that we can speak to them as the ones responsible for our enjoyment and learning. A thank you thread.

I've only been here for a couple of months; 7 I beleive. I signed up with the same name I use for everything (aim,school,yahoo,and I use it for all user login type names. It means Jim was born in August of 1987. Jimaug87.

I post farly regularly so I think my post count is a little hight for the amount of time.

 

skip is the head dude round here... he posts quite regularly.

 

yep, good old skip stone. love him or hate him, he's the creator of the site and a relatively influencial person in the community today, even outside of this site and the hippyland web based community. we all owe him at least some degree of thanks!
