So what's the difference in the effects of crack and cocaine?
Just wondering, I'll never try crack or anything.
And what about crack makes it supposedly so much more dangerous?

it's essentialy the same high, except crack is way more amplified. coke gives you a pleasant jolt; crack is like being struck by a lightning bolt of euphoria. it is more dangerous because it has all the down-sides of plain old blow, but also amplified. that, plus it's just more sketchy in general.

    Um . . . No. [IMG]

Coke is an alkaloid extracted from the coca bush and processed into snortable cocaine.

Speed, as in methamphetamine, is synthesized in a reduction reaction with ephedrine or pesudoephedrine as the base product. The amphetamine synthesis also does not involve coca bushes.

    Get your chemistry right . . . .

And the difference between cocaine and crack cocaine is that cocaine is a snortable powder and is in the salt form of the substance. Crack cocaine can refer to freebase cocaine, which is rather dangerous to use due to the use of ammonia. The more common form of crack cocaine cooks sodium bicarb in with the coke to make the cocaine smokeable. It can then also be reprocessed with water to help remover the left over bicarb and make a purer anhydrous base. When cocaine is smoked, the rush in incredibly intense and short lived, which is why crack heads are such fiends, the shit only gets you high for a minute or two and then its off to Jonestown till you get another rock.

Cocaine is a powerfully addictive stimulant drug. The powdered hydrochloride salt form of cocaine can be snorted or dissolved in water and injected. Crack is cocaine base that has not been neutralized by an acid to make the hydrochloride salt. This form of cocaine comes in a rock crystal that is heated to produce vapors, which are smoked. The term “crack” refers to the crackling sound produced by the rock as it is heated.

The idea behind crack is that the high is condensed into a much more intense but shorter acting high.

If that guy's from the UK then speed is amphetamine, not meth.
