Just forget about narrow-minded people. Don't hold their religion against them, though. I'm not saying you are...I'm just saying that if you hold that against them, you're being narrow-minded as well.
just think of it like this; shutting things out of their world is the only way that they can feel like they have control of their lives, when they really don't. Shutting things out is ignorance and arrogance at their best.
agreed, but I think they should all take a course in philosophy history. Some of the greatest minds in history came to a perfectly rational theory that there is no God.
and some of the greatest minds in history came to a theory that there IS...but whether or not you agree with their theories, these philosophers were just as significant. Discrediting them makes YOU the self-righteous one. I'm not an atheist, and I'm certainly not one of the people you guys are talking about. The last thing I want to do is change your beliefs or values. I think instead, people should be helping other people understand theirs. My problem with this thread is that everyone is bashing religion instead of bashing the psychology of these people.
Common hippies, lets live by the example we preach... Lets hang this religious snob! Hang him! Hang him!
No, let's tie him to a plum tree deep in the forest while he's wearing nothing but his underwear and hide and wait for the bears to come and eat him!...
Hmmm....in that case we should probably think of some other punishment for you... What is it that you self-rightous religious narrow minded persons dislike?....
I don't mind if people are religious, I'm not, but that doesn't meen they can't. Now when people get mad at me for not being religious. That pisses me off Now the self-rightgeous part you talked about, that annoys me to no end, but I think someone at the beggining of the thread said we should be tolerant of them. I agree with that.
