a forgotten or underrated album of the 60's. this is one:the yankee dollar 1968:great songs with some organ and fuzz-guitar
Don't know that one, I'll try to find it! I'm rather suprised what unknown gems you can find if you dig in the history of psychedelic rock. Have found some superb ones myself. Too bad though, that most of the time those bands only released one album.. Fate - Sgt. Death (1972) - Delicious psych rock, the titlesong is anti-vietnam. Some guitarparts remind me a bit of Country Joe's Electric music for mind and body. Doesn't that sounds interesting Open Mind - The open mind (1969) - Alright, this is a little more wellknown, but pretty obscure. Great psychedelic rock, my favourite song is on their myspace site: http://www.myspace.com/theopenmindband Their other songs are usually a little less uptempo. Shiver - San francisco's shiver (1972) - Superb psychedelic rock with a bluesy edge. Find it if you like fuzzy and long guitarsolo's! Seompi - Awol (1970) - I think this band has more albums, don't have them yet unfortunately. Mad fuzzed out psych rock, great songs. They also have a very spacey cover of Voodoo Chile on this album, love it! Try to get it with the bonustracks, cause those re- done versions sound more pleasant in my opinion. Well, I have some more recommendations. Hope you can find it, I found these albums on soulseek. You're real lucky if you found an LP or re-released version in a shop, although I know The Open Mind is available on cd.
in holland there is a vinyl related magazine released it has it's own section of unknown psychedelic rock bands. if i think about it i will put some names in this thread later on
Which magazine is that? I never buy or look in magazines anymore, I look almost all information up on the internet.
it is simply called 'Platenblad'. it seems like they don't have a website, their email is platenblad@planet.nl. ISSN is 1388-9400, mabey you can order one if you are interested. you're welcome psychedelia man

zager and evans! "in my house i ain't got nothin but a chair and a shelf ..." "my friends that i keep in my tupperware in my frigidare" and of course their one cut to get airplay: in the year 2525! from their one alblum. that i think i had on 8-track. ages ago. i think it was either called 2525 or it was self titled, i don't remeber which. i remember i kept hoping they'd come out with more, but as far as i know they never did. just that one alblum. i don't know who the band members were and presume they each went on to become members of other bands as everybody seems to be doing today. but this was back arround 1967 or so, through maybe 71 at the latest that i think anybody ever heard of them except for that one song. =^^= .../\...
I have one, not an album but a single. "Hey Little Girl" by Syndicate of Sound. It's definitely a nugget of gold. One of my favorite songs to come from a "one hit wonder" band. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ppfbd78b_zQ
Finally found and bought 'open mind'!Their 1969 lp on cd featuring both sides of their ultra rare non album 45's
Another one I'm really getting fond of: Aguaturbia - Psychedelic drugstore (1970). Raw and pure psychedelic blues rock from Chile (!). I had this album for quite a while and thought it was just ok. But I was listening to it again lately and it sounds just so great. There are a bunch of covers on it as well, most of them not really special, however I quite like their version of Rollin' and tumblin'. Anybody here aware of this record?
Kaleidoscope (UK) - Dive into yesterday It's a 1996 compilation, probably more widely available than their two albums (from 1967 and 1969). I think they're an excellent band, very pleasant psych-pop with some interesting twists.
