Synaptics Pointing Device

    My Laptop, Gateway,Mx6421. Is equipped with a Synaptics Pointing System for
    the touch pad.
    Every once in awhile I'll hear a "whooos" sound and lose my scrolling capabilities. I can still point and click, but can't scroll pages or shift right to left or left to right.
    I can correct the problem by clicking on the icon for the system, the clicking on the field of the desktop.
    Its no big deal, but it would be nice if I didn't have to do this.
    Any ideas, wrong settings or ?

    maybe... maybe you should stop trying to use a vegetable as an operating system
