Hey all, I am looking to do some S. divinorum extractions and was wondering if anyone had a decently priced acetone supplier. I would probably need about a gallon and everywhere I have looked that adds up to about $100 USD or they want me to enter a bunch of info for a quote. Any suggestions?

Wal-mart has it for about $5 a gallon. This isn't exactly the hive, huh?

are you sure it was acetone? I really doute that anyone would price acetone at $100 a gallon....maybe 50 gallons or so but that is a hella lot of acetone for personal use...

Reagent grade, maybe. But yeah, that price is outrageous.

Yes, being as I am making these extractions for other people as well as myself I feel it is a responsibility to only use reagent grade material. Wouldn't want that on my conscious. I just can't trust the Home Depot / Walmart stuff. Thanks for the help all but I found it for about $80 from a decent site (sciencelab.com). Got some glassware there too. Only problem is they say the acetone is on backorder so I have to wait like another 2-3 weeks =(.

The contaminant in hardware store acetone is just water, it is simple to remove if nessecary, and for your purpose just fine as it is.

ive been fine with generic canadian tire acetone.

pour some on a glass surface and let sit for an hour. if theres no residue its safe to use.

    Definately
You simply have to remove any excess water--big deal

Plus paying over 20 a gallon even for reagent grade is a ripoff
