I'm sorry, I couldn't figure out WHERE to put this and was hoping that since most of you gardeners also seem to know a bit about herbs maybe you'd know?

My husband took a "walk in the garden" with me last night, and was commenting on how everything looks good & is doing so well. Then he said, "So what are your plans for next year?" I hadn't even gotten to next year - I'd been focusing on keeping everything alive 'til harvest for THIS year!

So I sat down this morning & thought about it a bit. This year I have:
tomatoes, peppers, carrots, lettuce & pumpkins, and cilantro, chives, basil, lavender & mint. To that I think I'd like to add just a little more of a few of what I've already got, plus: leeks & potatoes, and parsley & feverfew. (aka bachelor's buttons)

It's the feverfew I'm not sure about. From what I've read, it's supposed to help with migraines, arthritis & all sorts of stomach problems... that'd be awesome to have around! And it's used in teas - something I'm very interested in learning more about is medicinal teas. BUT... of course several places I've looked say that if you're allergic to the daisy family you're more likely to be allergic to this as well, (sigh) and of course I'm VERY allergic to Chamomile.

Would you try it? Or does anyone know of any other herbs that would grow in a zone-4 container that can be used in tea, and/or might help with migraines?!?
    love,
    mom

im not sure about other herbs to help with migraines, i cant find my damn herb book
feverfew is great though, its the top migraine tea as far as i know and it grows like a weed. i actually think i weed more little feverfews out of all my gardens (how the hell do they get there?) than any other plant.
can you obtain some feverfew and do a test to see if your allergic?
there are planty of other great teas that are easy to grow and super good for you. do you have echinacea? its a super immune system booster that should be in any garden.
annnd i cant think of any more

Yes, I have echinacea here - they're taking over one corner of my house as an ornamental flower... but I do harvest it from my mom's house for tea as well.

I'm asking around here to see if anyone has feverfew - so I can try it myself. It'd be awful nice if I could find something to help with my migraines!

Other herbs I'm considering for the deck-garden are: betony or valerian, (in a larger pot) horehound, or just letting red clover go crazy in a strawberry pot.

You're already growing a good herb for your migraines! Lavendar. Pick a few of the flowers when you feel the pain coming on, and sniff. It helped me quite a bit. I have French lavendar growing in my front yard.

    Hi Mom

Mint is also good for headaches and a combinatin of that and lavender is really good as it works both as a vasodialtor and a painkiller. Compress on the back of the neck.

Fever few is very bitter and yes it is really good for headaches/migraines and as it suggests, fevers.

Get a good medicinal herbal if you can.

I have no idea about zones in the US. Most herbs are quite hardy. You just have to position them in the right place.

    P_O_D is the genius tho'....
