Bush Hits Record Low Approval Rating of 26% in Newsweek Poll

June 22 (Bloomberg) -- President George W. Bush's approval rating dropped to a record low, making him the least popular president since Richard Nixon, according to a new Newsweek poll.

Twenty-six percent of Americans approve of the job Bush is doing, while a record 65 percent disapprove, including almost a third of Republicans, Newsweek said.

Bush's rating is a 2-point drop since a Newsweek poll at the beginning of May. It's also lower than the 28 percent low for President Jimmy Carter in a Gallup poll in June 1979, Newsweek said. The only president in the last 35 years to score lower than Bush is Nixon, whose approval rating fell to 23 percent in January 1974, Newsweek said. :lol:

To put this into perspective..Michael Jackson, who was alleged of sexually harassing an underage boy, and American football player O.J. Simpson, who caused a huge clamor for being suspected of murdering his wife in 1994, each maintained 25 percent and 29 percent favorable impression rates, respectively.
