I'm not too keen on HAVING to vote - that I agree is unfair. That does not mean if we are ''forced'' to we will have to then directly pay for partys campaigning. There was talk of it last year - but it went nowhere. Even if their was a tax that supported political partys - it would allow other smaller political partys to campaign more effectively. I think most political partys know it would be unworkable. Show me. You might want to do a bit of research about that -
ONE INCIDENT? Are you serious? You've LOST ALL CREDIBILITY dude. And you're testing my patience. I just mentioned TWO incidents to you, and now you claim I only mentioned one. I guess it's just your selective memory, or selective reading, or selective brain malfunction on your part. Why do I even bother to respond to you, or let you continue to post your conservative lies on this website. I could mention 1000 incidents where Americans have been abused while exercising their RIGHT to protest. Remember those FREEDOMS that supposedly our HEROES are dying to ensure we retain? One of those FREEDOMS is the right to peacefully assemble. Our gov't and their agents not only infiltrate every organzied protest group, but they also PROVOKE violence with their tactics and when that doesn't work they have their undercover agents start throwing rocks and get violent to ensure the fascist police response. Why? To KEEP PEOPLE TOO AFRAID TO PROTEST. If you don't understand this tactic, then YOU KNOW NOTHING about what is really going on.
I know you mentioned two - I was only talking about one. I'm sorry I did not delete that fragment of your post. I did not mean to airbrush that one out. I'm sure you could - regardless of how many you could mention. Are you going to deny that a large proportion of demo's go with out incident. I'm not wishing to whitewash every single protest - merely state that a large proportion do go with out incident. One of the e.gs you give [the latest one] went with out incident untill everyone was told to go home. The demo up untill that point went with out incident. A minority decided to ''kick off'' - this does paint a bad image on some protestors [if that was what they were - and not just adjutators]. Certain sections of the police also acted in a unacceptable manor - painting a bad image for the police. Yes I know - and for the majority of the time this is what occurs. Are you suggesting every demo that goes sour because of violent ''black bloc'' elements are goverment agents ?. No - I know a fraction - you know more. BUT I know that a ''police state'' has been argued ever since a state and a police force has been in existence. It was said in 1968 and is said in 2007. Call me cynical but a lot of protestors argue the case regardless of the laws in place or the goverment in power. You I know could make a good case now - and are making a good case.
PROVE IT! Where are the pix, the video images??? We keep hearing this excuse, there was a huge media presence there (several journalists were beaten), where is their report? All we are getting is a police report with nothing to back it up! Answer that then back to the TOPIC OF THIS THREAD, thank you.
Rubbish - not every anarchist group is infiltrated and it would be impossible to infiltrate some of them - at most meetings of top anarchist groups the search people for wiretaps - all mobile phones must be left outside the meeting and they do a sweep for listening devices and other methods of info trawling the fact is they even go to the length of playing bass noise to vibrate the windows and doors so speech cannot be picked up by bouncing laser off them and listening to voices that way - also the location is decided by a a random choice in most events after people are searched and 10 minutes before schedule - Also I dont want to give too much away but theres other reasons such as the selection process by which people can determine if u are bacon or not - its a myth that anarchist groups are infiltrated - these demos really do turn to riot because of a political stance - this isnt a teenage rebellion thing anymore and a phase people go through - people have grown up as anarchists and its all ages but the older ones who started these groups all knew each other from school etc - impossible to infiltrate yet !!!
Some of the info I have read: I can't find any pictures of the initial turning point - i'm echoeing the sentiments of some of the organisers. ''People were very united in their opinions and demands today even though there had been some initial discord among some of the groups. Seen as a huge problem by many is a statement made by some of the organizers that the youth and anarchists had been responsible for inciting the police at the event.'' Small group ruin it for others: ''Many feel that statements like this that demonize and hang the youth out to dry are extremely unfortunate; '' Otherwise peaceful: ''An otherwise peaceful day of demonstrations throughout the city ended violently when the LAPD attacked the May Day march and rally in MacArthur Park today.'' No trouble: ''April 7 Coalition March Rally in Los Angeles Draws 75,000'' http://la.indymedia.org/features/immigration/ Command breakdown otherwise known as a complete fuck up The violent police response in MacArthur Park. An inquiry suggests tactical errors created problems. http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/050807M.shtml "One of the two investigations will focus on creation of an “After Action Report" to be prepared by Chief of Operations, Earl Paysinger. This comprehensive evaluation of the planning and operations relative to yesterday's events will be the foundation for a report to the City Council. "A second use of force investigation into complaints about our officers' actions will be conducted in full conformity with Consent Decree mandates, and will be headed up by Chief Mark Perez and the Internal Affairs Division of our Professional Standards Bureau. http://lapdblog.typepad.com/lapd_blog/2007/05/chief_bratton_b.html I'd say it was two fold I think there was provocation and that resulted in a shut down of the otherwise peaceful event - the shutdown created a melee where 60 coppers charged with dispersal fucked it up. I think it was very unfortunate and blurs the the rest of the day. All I can do is reiterate a few points and see if I get a response: There has been talk of ''big brother'' ''police state'' for the last [sake of arguement] 60 years. The more articulate arguements have been as convincing [and pretty much the same] as they are now - so why should I not be cynical and think it is not all a left wing cliche ?. The majority of CCTV cameras are not owned or run by the goverment - those that are are for the most part run by local goverment and asked for by residents. If you consider the ones on the roads [looking at traffic] as ''Big Brother'' then you may need to define what is and is not [in your view] beyond security and accident/traffic jam prevention.
Apply to join the police, Mi5 or any other organisation that requires you to be within the security cordon or part of it - and you will find that the form states 1) you must mention now whether you oppose the idea of parliamentary democracy 2) whether you associate with anyone who does oppose parliamentary democracy 3) if any of your family oppose it 4) if you have ever been or any of the above mentioned to your knowledge have been involved in organisations opposed to parliamentary democracy your answer could affect your suitability for the job and we aswk that you write below the names and their relationship to you of anyone fitting the above criteria Thats the gist - how do I know ??? well someone I know applied to an organisation just to see what the application form looked like - ! parts of the anti terror laws make it an arrestable offense to oppose parliamentary democracy by voicing dissent
I reckon Big brother is truely here. you cannot go anywhere without someone spying on you. I reckon in the future, society will be wearing ten foot boots and will be treading over each other's face.
I have some boots like that a man who owned a shoe shop in Camden gave them me they were part of a display on the shop roof
Uh, that has too familiar a ring to it... "have you, or anyone you associate with ever been a member of the Communist Party?" - Sen. Joseph McCarthy That is the tell-tale sign of creeping fascism taking over your country. It signals the loss of freedoms, the beginning of the witch hunts. Look out. This is serious stuff. People will have their lives ruined, many will be persecuted as a result. So if you're into TRUE democracy, as opposed to a parlimentary one, then you are an enemy of the state now, right? Next, if you don't like John Howard, you'll be deemed a traitor and sent to the Aussie equivalent of Gitmo. Glad I left Australia! It's goin' downhill fast. Nothing like re-electing a fascist gov't. How stupid can ppl be...
Exactly the story skip ! I work hard to fight tooth and nail to make people see how they are being led to that very path and its not just hipforums - I make very political dance tracks which are cool I believe this battle is first one of propoganda but yes the macarthy witchunts are on their way in Britain. I oppose parliamentary democracy it is a sham a corrupt sinkable sham !!!! and the idiot profiteers and those murdering scum that are running the show up there cannot be prosecuted en masse because the opposition colludes in the ills of its own making - they are locked in to the system and change toward real lasting democracy. That can only come about when the people put on trial the politicians and civil servants that have committed treason and fraud against the people ! let there be real peoples democracy or let there be none - settle for the parliamentary dictatorship sewer farm or rise and create the breath of fresh air and the cool sea breeze of true democracy !!! Treason cannot be committed against parliament or the monarchy - only against the people !!!! they are not the people - they are the looters and criminals that rule parliament - criminal scum the lot of them !
Skip and ronald, no-one on here can agree with you because most of us are real people and have declared ourselves as such. To collude with your ideas would therefore put ourselves at the risk of authority. I'd prefer young single men to take the initiative, I've got young children to care for.
Well I guess you won't mind if your children grow up under fascism. It's not YOUR problem, is it? Let someone else do the dirty work. That's how fascism thrives, on fear and intimidation. You are already a victim of fascism if you've given up your freedom to change the system.
I got a lot to lose but believe me I will die being tortured by them motherfuckers than give any of my friends and fellow anarchists away ! I will never grass and I will never renounce my part in the violence How is it possible to shit in a politicians brain ! I want to shit in the prime ministers brain
It amazes, and perhaps it isn't their fault as opposed to a cultural phenomenon, that young parents of today use the fact that they have children, to bond themselves to the state like a slavery umbilical cord. I have written a short play to commemorate the future that our self-proclaimed "normal" people will be willing to embrace. Normally this would go up in the Writers Forum, but perhaps this is a more fitting place: THE FUTURE Scene - A quiet neighbourhood in Sussex, England. Neighbour 1: Joanne? What's the matter with you? Why are you crying? What was all that noise? Where's your son, Jimmy? Neighbour 2: It's nothing, Clive. I - I just wish Terry was still alive. I wish they hadn't executed him for civil disobedience terrorism. Neighbour 1: I know. I understand, Joanne. I really don't know what this country is comi-- Oops! I better be careful what I say. There are cameras and microphones everywhere. Neighbour 2: (sobs) They broke in here. They took our things. They raped me and -- and they took little Jimmy away. I'll never see him again. Neighbour 1: Oh my goodness! We better call the police. Neighbour 2: You don't understand. They WERE the police. They had a warrant. Ever since Terry was accused of being a terrorist, his whole family was marked with him. I wish he hadn't been involved. Neighbour 1: But he wasn't involved in anything, was he? All he ever did was criticize the heavy handed approach with which the police handled the uprising of the grand children of the Eastern European immigrants, who are supposed to have as much rights as we have. Neighbour 2: Please, you have to do something. It's different for me. I'm a mother. I can't make moral decisions that might jeopardize my family, wheras you and your friends are single, and you care about these things. Neighbour 1: Yes, but I'm also 76 now. When I was your age and was using a thing called the internet, which back then was not the sole propriety of government and business corporations, me and my friends tried to warn the people, to make them realize that they had rights, that their freedoms were being chiseled away to the point where they would never be able to fight back and regain them. Now I have rheumatism, a heart condition, and a colostomy bag that I have to change three times a day. I probably have a few years left to live, so you know what? You are welcome to the world your "normal" parents so comfortably provided you with. I'm sorry about your husband and your son, but when we were trying to explain this to people they laughed and sent immature trolls to a little forum where I used to post just to make my life difficult, because they thought it was funny. Well, look around at the big joke your parents left for you. Hilarious isn't it? THE END
Load of tosh to be honest. Its not a cultural phenomena to protect ones offspring. Society exists whether the state does or not. Adequate parents ensure their offspring are able to exist within that society. If the state changes then they along with everyone else will adjust to suit. One does not raise ones offspring to be in conflict with the society they inhabit. I'm afraid to inform no-one has ever had the freedom to change the system, thats just kind of well chaos and we aint got that. And as for predictions of the future, I prefer Isaac Asimov thanks. Okay boys, and it usually is, anyone notice, I agree we're galloping to a Fascist state, which one of you wants to hold my coat for me then ?
Yup that's just one of many possible scenarios we are currently setting ourselves up for in the near future thru ignorance. Most of the scenarios I envision are far worse than that one. But you are so right to point out how important it is to ACT NOW because in the future we won't be able to act without risking everything we have. And yes in the future this thing we call the Internet may not be the bastion of free speech it is today. Every attempt is being made to reign it in now so that gov't can not only monitor everything going on, but filter, censor and replace that which reveals the truth about our leaders and gov't and corporations. It's just a matter of time, and there are only a few ppl and organizations willing to take a stand today. The apathy of the general public will ensure that the worst that can happen, WILL HAPPEN!
Yes they do - and you arent anyone better to tell people what a good parent does or not - My grandfather was a union man and worked in a stell foundry and my uncle worked at Ford and he was a union man, and my dad works at The TUC HQ and I have been taught all along about the tricks these capitalist assholes play just to fiddle some poor bastard out of their compensation money for an accident at work and how these shit head capitalists have pushed the laws on pay and conditions in their favour - believe me I am extremely well informed on politics and know all the tricks of the capitalist system - its why I oppoise it its rotten throughout - the TUC may totally abandon the Labour party soon !
Grandmothers and eggs really, your not the first and won't be the last, why do they all think they're the first to discover the wheel ? honestly lads we get the gist "tear down the wall"..........no-one want to hold my coat then, all to busy I assume.
