You could spend so much money on a bad looking shirt with good looking material, or you could spend little money on a shirt with just decent material and the design is good. Which would you rather do?

I don't know, I found a cashmere sweater at a thrift store in L.A. and it feels soooooooo good against the skin. I would never buy it at full price...but...it does feel pretty wonderful.

I like the feel of cashmere - and as far as the look is concerned, I agree that often cashmere sweaters/tops are poorly designed, but that can go with any article of clothing made from anything. I don't mind paying an extra couple of $ for a style that's better suited for me, no matter what the material that it's made from.

cashmere is one of the most amazing feeling materials in existence.. in my opinion.
i just go to thrift stores to buy my cashmere so i have no problems with price and such.
and the design might be simplistic or it might be floppy or even poorly cut.
but any piece of clothing looks good on someone who wears it with comfortable confidence.
i had a mishapen/weird looking cashmere sweater once that i lent to almost everyone because they just wanted to feel comfortable.

cashmere is still a plus in my book.
you just have yet to find your perfect cashmere piece.

I prefer cashmere/silk or cashmere/cotton blends or very thin 1-ply sweaters. 100 percent cashmere that is thick and multi-ply makes me itchy and feels boxy.

I agree with your bottom statement. It is amazing if you find the perfect piece. I got a black cashmere sweater dress at banana republic a few years ago and wear it all the time-even to bed sometimes. def my comfort sweater. it's very thin 2-ply though. I have some really thick cashmere cardigans that I need to consign because I never wear them...too itchy

Anything that I can't just toss in the washer machine is overrated. Except lacy panties...they're worth the handwashing. :)

i would rather have a nice looking shirt made out of a nice material, obviously. if i'm going to be dropping bank on a shirt it will be nice looking and feeling. what's the point of having anything if it isn't the best? the question becomes would you rather have lots of inferior things or just a few high quality things?

i think the answer is obvious.
