Remember when the worst presidential scandal was whether or not Bill Clinton was getting oral sex from Monica Lewinski? Now it's illegal war and torture.

i watched the watergate hearings live. and i was old enough to vote when n.e.t. became p.b.s. to cover them. i was in highschool the day j.f.k. got shot. in gradeschool when mccarthy was calling everyone a commie and truman was still president when i was born. and to an under ten year old that i was in the maccarthy era, it seemed like all eisinhour ever did was play golf.

and everything bush has now done, when i was in school we were told only happened in russia and that was why it was such a bad place and why 'communism' was!

of course i was sceptical then, and when raygun started dismantling everything f.d.r. had put in place to prevent a repeat of the depression of the 30s i knew it COULD happen here. i just wish i could have been wrong and it hadn't.

It's better to have a president in bed with Monica than bin Laden.

I say it's a pretty sad state of affairs in our country when
your best choice among the presidents is one who was openly indulging in sexual improprieties while holding the highest office in our land - what does this teach our children? The President of the United States is operating under the colors of his office, and at the very least should have the discretion to keep a tight lid on his personal activities if he can't keep it in his pants. Our leader should be a man who is supposed to be exceptional because he demonstrates qualities that make him so ... if we, as a society, allow ourselves to become complacent enough to find it acceptable for our leader to indulge in ANY impropriety - whether it be sexual promiscuity or political promiscuity, well, then, we'll not only lose the fight, we'll lose the war. The way it's supposed to work is we are supposed to know we can rely on this man's unfailing judgement to competently represent us all. His judgement fails in one arena; it will fail in them all. What's the matter with you people? Each one of us knows the difference between what's right and what's wrong - we learned these things in kindergarten.

The Republicans unnecessarily airing out a personal issue to the international community for the sake of humiliating someone and for their own ego gain did more to damage the reputation of the U.S. than anything else.

I thought the whole thing was pretty funny. Bush is the one who needs to be impeached...but, that is an entirely different subject...

Remember when: People didn't care what other ppl thought oh thats right we care what every one thinks ..

Who gives 2 flying craps what when where why how what ever president did what?

The press and media only releases stuff that irrelevent in the first place. They don't walk down the street when he hugged or kissed someone to say hello like a friendly man would do. (heading) Bill Clinton, caught in 2nd affair. No so why would anyone care. Respect who he is and not exactly what he does. You don't know him personally .

Besides all the sex scandal jibber-jabber, Clinton was a terrible President anyways. And what has Bush done that you have so deemed deserving to be impeached, MaryJaneGirl?

Both or not good. Bill was married and didn't know what sex is, and Bush doesn't know how to clean up a mess he made.

We damn sure better give a flying crap what the President does while operating under the colors of his office - the President is the leader of our country, and we, as citizens, are supposed to be able to rely on the President to use good judgement to competently represent us all - how can you not care about how you are represented?

You stated, "Respect who he is and not exactly what he does..." That's a ludicrous statement, at best! Behavior equals intent. The president is expected to set the moral tone for the nation, including exemplary honesty and integritous behavior - and when the President openly indulges in sexual improprieties while holding the highest office in our land - what does this teach our children? Like I have already said: if we, as a society, allow ourselves to become complacent enough to find it acceptable for our leader to indulge in ANY impropriety - whether it be sexual promiscuity or political promiscuity, well, then; there's something wrong with the way we're thinking. How can one respect a President who openly demonstrates a lack of faithfulness and loyalty? What one does translates into who one is. We're not talking about the neighbor next door here or the man who owns the corner store. We're talking about the President, and the office he holds dictates his actions.

I think I know what's going on here. It's what happened during the scandal too. Republicans are just jealous that Democrats are the ones who get sex. Moral tones? Are you kidding me? What president has had excellent morals? I think Jimmy Carter is the most honest, caring president that we've ever had, and look what Republicans, Democrats, and the media did to him. So why should we impeach Bush? Let's start a list of reasons. I think the number one reason is the hundreds of thousands of people that have died for this fictitious war. Not only American lives have been ended in Iraq, but Iraqi lives too. First we went in to find the WMDs. Then we found there were none, and the U.N. inspectors were right, so our TRUE cause of war became, "well, we wanted to rescue the Iraqi people." Oh how noble of us. We got the worlds number 16th worse dictator. And it just so happens that dictator controlled some of the world's largest oil fields. And it just so happens that Bush's colleagues and family have become even wealthier because of this war. It's awful handy owning stock in weapon factories when a war is on. Bush has been a warmonger from the start. I'm sorry, but that right there is enough for me. I would prefer my presidents’ worse scandal to be getting his prick sucked. Clinton was no angel, and he is by no means my favorite president ever. But at least the world thought something good about the U.S. when he was our leader, and had reasons to do so.

i was just saying today how unfair the government is when one president can get impeached for getting his jollies in the white house, but another one can kill 6000 people and wage a war for oil and get away with it.

Revolution Time ... I completely agree with you on the statements I pulled from your post. The only presidential election I ever participated in was the one in which Jimmy Carter ran - and I voted for him. I concur with what you said about Jimmy - he conveyed nothing but goodness, and I really favored him.

But this Bush - I find it absolutely amazing that he is still in office, and there exist "We the Sheeple" type Americans that actually still think he's okay! Incredible! Our country clearly shows blatant signs
of being in the "Decline of Empire", as one of the major
signs is severe immorality amongst the leaders. I mean,
these nutziods take out people like John Lennon, who was a peace-maker; but they leave Bush be - where is the justice? (Oh yeah, I forgot for a moment - there is none). I was a kid in elementary school when the Kennedy brothers were taken out, and even though it was written after their deaths that they indulged in sexual improprieties, at least they kept a lid on it while they were in office - and that aside, they were doing good things for the people. Like Billy Joel said, "Only the good die young."

A censure would have been an appropriate way to deal with it. Unfortunately, the republicans who were plotting against him on this wouldn't be reasonable and morale about it. Instead they chose to spy with wireless microphones, to try to make a Constitutional issue out of it, and unnecessarily aired out some dirty laundry to the international community for their own ego gain. That stained the White House and Congress much more than the original incident.

Both parties realized what a mistake this was later. The Independent Council Statute wasn't renewed a few years later after everyone realized how it was being abused for political gain. It's ironic that 'abuse of power' was one of the articles of the impeachment when the real abuse of power was the way the Independent Council Statute was being abused by the republicans in Congress.

It's funny how war is more acceptable than sex.
