I suppose everyone here will obviously agree with me, but I always find there's a lot of warmth and de-stressing going on in gay communities in big cities, and I've really never felt anything like it. Everywhere else it's this big uptight ball of stress, scoring, impending violence, frustration, etc... but walk into a gay community and your spirits are automatically lifted. I'm saying this as someone who probably isn't gay (well, besides a couple 'incidents' at Uni)... I'm just curious as to why this is? Is it that gay men are more sensitive? That they don't object to the waitresses calling them 'sweetheart' and other such wonderful endearing terms? Or maybe because those waitresses don't feel like they're going to be hit on when they call them that? I just find it so interesting that there always seems to be more understanding and compassion in gay communities!!!
Maybe everybody is happy that they live in a community with people they can relate to, and they pass that happiness on.
..I know exactly what you mean. When I'm in the world,.it is a ball of stress,. I have to deal with so many people who just don't understand me.Not to mention those who are just looking to cut me down.Being and feeling safe is such an important thing,..I feel its just common sense that we treat ourselves and others with respect,...Unfortunately not everyone agrees,... It's nice,..for example Here,..This forum,..There's so much support and good vibes,..It can lift up my spirits after a bad day,...And I think in general the GLBT Community is so much more sensitive and loving than regular straight people are,..(There are exceptions of course)...My journey in life definetely has helped to make me more warm and loving,I wish everyone could also be that way,...But the world is not always a nice place,..So we do the best we can..I have'nt been here (This forum) long but sometimes it seems like a lifepreserver to me.Sooo I'd definetely agree with you,..
I think one can find solitude in the glbtq community. However, for the most part it's very pretentious and superficial. Not always a bad thing...but I wouldn't say it's compassionate or understanding. I guess it all depends on the area though.
