I spend about $30-40 a week on groceries. I buy a lot of stuff cheap at the farmers market... fruits and vegetables and whatnot.

    That website is completely pointless.

Food costs vary so greatly from place to place and based on availability... that you cannot really compare it.

My family probably spent 20 times less on food in Honduras than in the US, and we bought more food in Honduras.

Anyhow... I spend around 60-70$ on meself per week. I like fancy food.

Depends on the time of year...

Most of the time, all of our meat is given to us for free. I know a butcher at Food Lion and he usually gives us whatever he has if it's within three days of the sell by date. Stops by about once a week. Tonight, We actually got a couple dozen packs of Fillet Mignon, about a dozen packs of lemon herb chicken breast, and a good dozen rib eyes.. think there were three Cornish hens in the box, too. Along with another few Smithfield hams. Yeah, this coming from someone who was a vegan for years... haha. What can I say, it's free.

We usually acquire way too much and end up giving it to the senior center next door or one of the churches on our street, if we don't give it to neighbors or friends that drop by, first. Whatever haircuts I get are usually paid for in pork chops or ground beef.

Plus we have friends that are ranchers... so plenty of whatever from them, now and then.

Everything else, if it doesn't come from one of the various farmer's markets on Highway 17, is bought as needed, besides going to bakery outlets and freezing bread once a month, freezing milk--we don't need much... Every now and then, a trip to some of the international/asian markets for spices and things... and Trader Joe's for the good shit--yogurt, cheese, wine, and Sierra-Nevada.

Haha, I'm drinking a $1.70 bottle of Boone's Farm malt apple wine from Food Lion, right now. It was one of two bottles in the reduced section. The other one was left for some random August West, something, or other...

I don't know, all three of us buy food here and there so it's hard to determine. But not much. We eat a ton of beans and tuna.

I eat almost completley organic and don't spend a lot. I do notice if I am really busy, don't have time to cook and get things that are frozen but organic i will spend an insanely high amount though.

We just blew $160.00 on groceries, but it's enough to last far over a week.
I would say we go through about $60.-$80.00 a week for two of us.

    Why $180.00 above?
Well, I bought Kefir, fresh cherries, vanilla frozen yogurt, there was meat on sale too..We tend to buy meat on sale, & then freeze it for later usage.

We'll need staples like milk for coffee & cereal...Probably bread, maybe lunchmeat. Although, I think we're gonna get organic peanut butter & do pb&j next week.

For my mom and I, we get by on around $45 (Canadian ) a week. Any little extras (junk) are usually bought by her boyfriend, who is also the main consumer of these things...

I grow a lot of our vegetables and freeze/preserve them, and make a lot of our breads/baked goods and that type of thing. Most of what we buy is rice, beans, occasionally chicken or ocaaaaaaaasionally shrimp, cheap staple vegetables that take a bit of time to grow (carrots, potatoes, onions, etc), greens, eggs, fresh fruit... A gallon of milk ($4.19) will last around a week and a half to two weeks. Mostly used on cereal and in baking.

I totally forgot about the garden. Whatever we specialize in for the year.. tomatoes, squash, etc. is done by ourselves. Usually, three or four types are picked.

And Milk is ridiculously expensive up there....
