I guess my first hand experience must not be valid here on this one:H

I'm not denying that there's many people who think like this, however they're not usually the ones who "take you in".

I've been in the some of the poorest home of my life, as a 'gringo', south of the border. I've been offered a families food for the day, because this is how kind they are.

If you don't expect people to class you as a "gringo", you might find you get along better with your "foreign friends".

I don't know. I like to travel like a mofo. I spent a month in Canada last year, just got back from Bonnaroo a week ago. I'll be following Yonder Mountain String Band in a couple weeks... Then Floydfest in Floyd County, VA, All Good, in West Virginia, Camp Barefoot in Gore, VA. Allman Bros. invited me to jam with Bruce Hornsby, the night I'm leaving to tour YMSB, and the day before that, I'll have to be in VA Beach for them... I wanted to do Summer Camp, but that'd make me too frantic.

Then I may have to go out to Morrison (Red Rocks).

People out in the Burbs take The City for granted.
We travel to New York afew times a year,,,
see tourists, people from Japan, Europe and say
Dammm....gotta get in here more often.
These folks fly thousands of miles to get here and we are just a drive away.

Wow, I really envy some of you and what you've been able to see. I haven't left North America since I was 4 years old, and even then, the UK, while it is different is hardly a culture shock (especially to a 4 year old). Other than that the only times I've left the country were the countless trips to various destinations in Ontario for hockey tournaments growing up. I have, however, been fortunate enough to go to school with people from many countries, and I can say that I have friends from South Korea, Taiwan, China, Germany, Saudi Arabia, India, Bulgaria, Britain, Sweden, and Romania.

BTW, I love Canada, and plan on living there at some point in my life. To this day, I have never met a Canadian I didn't like.
