    Hey

Whenever I sit in lotus, my blood circulation seems to stop and after a few minutes my legs go purple with orange spots on em. Will this just stop happening with time or are my feet not at the right position or something?

    hey there
well I don't have in depth knowledge yet that kind of a strong body reaction can not be ignored I think. do you stretch your muscles before lotus enough after all? have you tried half lotus and quarter lotus?
not everybody can sit in lotus position. I sit in seiza position when I meditate for instance. meanwhile, I exercise and try to hone my muscles for lotus, it may take some weeks or months to get used to it.

I can't sit in lotus either. I sit in half lotus.

The important thing is that your legs are comfortable, so find what works for you.

I sit in Seize rather than Lotus or Half Lotus as my current flexibility level does not allow it. Don't be harsh on yourself if you can't accomplish either. The whole reason for the two is so the energy recirculates within the triangular space you form.

I have been sitting in lotus position for 30+ years. Sometimes I meditate 10 hours in a day in that positon. But I hear that tall people have a problem with it. Before doing it, I had been doing yoga and martial arts for 8 years.

Here is what is scary. A few times I bowed forward in that position and fell asleep. When I wake up, I have no feeling in my legs at all, like I have no legs. But after a few minutes they hurt from them waking up. The postures of hatha yoga were made so people could sit for hours in the lotus postion.

Today there is so much stiffness, lack of exercise, pesticides in foods, genetically altered food and other things, you just need to find a position comfortable to you.

Don't hurt yourself... I think you can still achieve accurate balance just by sitting Indian-style.
