I started backcombing my hair today (about a third of the way finished) and was wondering how long to leave the rubberbands in at the roots and tips before taking out, for best results. Also, I've tried tip rubbing to get rounded tips, but it seems to just spread the hair out in a mop like fashion =/ Thanks all ^_^
I would try and get all of them out immediately, but thats just me. I will never use rubberbands again after I accidently missed afew. Needless to say I found them a year and a half later and they had switched from rubberbands to what was the same consistancy as hash oil. Impossible to get out and I had to cut off the tips of a few of my locks.
yea i wouldnt use ruberbands at all unless ya just left em in a day maybe 2 think about it,..ya want your hair toi knot up..what happens with the rubber bands then? they get knotted into the dreads & become a part of em..no good.. & dont worry bout the tips..theyll do what they wanna do
what they said get rid of the bands now, and leave the tips alone, just let your hair do whatever it fancies. have fun!
trust me... listen to them ^^^ i put bands in the ends of mine the oldest of which are only a month old. i started taking them out today as i had a bit of spare time. it takes longer to get the damn things out than it took to back comb my dreads in the 1st place thank gods i have only done half my head, the rest i will back comb and leave em to it!
yeah.........rubberbands bad.......the only thing that makes dreads (feel like a broken record here) is time. time. time.
rubber bands work for me. I use the clear kind. They haven't melted, they just break. Maybe you could look into that if you must have them? I use mine for keeping loose hairs together and fattening up the flat dreads in the back. Just make sure you air dry your hair. You don't want mildew in between the rubber band.
Backcombed my hair 2 weeks ago and snapped on rubberbands..... They allowed the body of the dread to start locking up but they helped to retain water after showering/soaking and they are just bothersome altogether. Anywho, THEY ARE OUT NOW and my dreads are looking amazing, feeling increadible. All smiles form me. peace!
I usually put rubberbands in when I was showering, just to make sure all my hair didnt like fall out, but i took them out like right after I got out, they melted like nothing at all in the sun, very not good, you dont want that icky shit in there.
