The weather here on the east coast has been fairly humid since Sunday. Unfortunately, I tend to have a problem with just sitting still when the weather is like this. So for the third time in four nights, yours truly headed into the city for some serious barefoot strolling. Last night the temperature was still reading ninety degrees F at eight o'clock, which basically means the pavement was very hot. Anyways after strolling around various parts of the city for several hours, I noticed my heels and the second to last toe on both feet were extremely sore. Fortunately, tonight I have to work late so this fool won't be getting anywhere near the city. Has anyone else experienced any pain from pushing there barefoot exploits?

It takes time to toughen up your feet if you aren't a full-time barefooter. Take it easy at first until you've built up those soles a bit. Continue to barefoot as much as possible in shorter stints to accomplish this.

Once you've gotten to a certain point, there's no such thing as "too much barefooting". I've not worn shoes for 14 years now and can hike/walk/run over just about any surface indefinitely.

Ditto the above. I walk barefoot all day on hot asphalt or gravel roads and my feet don't feel sore at all. Sounds like you're landing on your heels too much. Remember that proper barefoot walking requires using your calf muscles and redistributing your weight and fixing your posture. You should be putting more of your weight on the balls and toes. Bring your lower back forward and stand up straight.
