Hey guys, I don't post alot but I read often. I am a musician and I play many instruments. My problem is I have an addiction to technology, aka I whatch tv and surf the net too much. I really want to get away from these and focus on music again, but I keep finding myself wasting time whatching TV, especially after coming home from work (I graduated from Highschool and this is my summer before college, so Im still at home).

Any advice for getting my focus back? I don't like wasting time but when Im tired its hard to concentrate. Thanks.

Unplug all your stuff. Do it in a way that will make it a pain in the ass to get it all up and running again. Then go out camping for a week or weekend, for some fun detox. Come home and don't be bothered to plug anything back in. Supply yourself with some other non-tech things to do like a book/magazines, preparing and cooking killer meals and of course - your music.

Fishing, scooba diving, archery, fencing, martial arts, photography and scenery sketching, skating/boarding, long camp outs with friends, in the woods, to the mountains both arboreal and desert, with sketchpad and instruments, a healthy metric usage of drugs in between and during...

Breaking open old televisions radios, and computers along with reading guides and topic specific books and all that stuff...
Become the master of your inatomate possessions to free yourself from that prison within.

And be wary, ALL Inatomate Possessions can be a dangerous prison.
Some are just more dangerous and entrapping then others.
Which is why humans are still numeral uno. :)
    Hope that helps.
    Peace.

And if you don't feel courageous enough to unplug tv and pc, ask your loved one to do this for you.....While (s)he's doing that, go outside with one of your instruments and forget all about technology.........
I expect some good music to be played and don't you let me down!...:)
