Woah Obviously, a very dull misunderstanding of Karma is being tossed around on this thread. First off, An aura is simply the elctromagnetic energy surrounding EVERY material thing. So, technically, rocks have auras if you know how to look. Next, Karma is simply the balance of the physical cosmos, and has nothing to do with the spiritual plane of existance. Karma is not rooted in morality, so it does not include reward and repremandation. It may appear that way, but this is not what is truly represented by the term. Obviously, if you tip a scale, it is going to lean further into the direction it is tipped. By natural reality, something else is going to bring the balance back into order again wether we influence it or not. Every action has a reaction? This sort of thing applies very well here. So, no, you do not need a creator, or god, to exist in order for Karma to exist. It is black and white, ying and yang, back and forth. Nothing amazing about it. I think people get confused and try to understand some deep esoteric theories as to what Karma is, when it is, in actuality, one of the most basic and elementary truths in the physical universe. If you are claiming that karma is soley based on moral desicions and the perceived reactions received from carrying out such behaviour, then you are simply inheriting centuries old superstition and not looking into the matter directly with your own eyes.
I dont see how either karma or god whicever yolu believe in, could have any sense of morality or the ability to distinguish right from wrong. Let's say there is a such a thing as a god or karma for example. Somekind of energy or being which created the WHOLE universe with an infinite sets biological, physical and chemical rules with immense precision keeping it balanced and basically allowing such an complex system to work... now why would this being/energy or whatever it is have a sense of morality? why would it be able distinguish right from wrong or good from bad? When basically these are nothing more then human emotions, chemical reactions taking place in the brain.... I think that if there actually was a creator he would be definitly be too complex too big too unimmaginble immense to give a rats ass if on one of the millions of little planets he created one little being is for example being rude to another of the beings. I am kinda stoned and rambling but I hope some of you got my point..
Exactly my friend, very well thought out post and very insightful, filled with actual truth. Everything we do in life, LIFE itself, is nothing more than sense perception. Sense gratification is another story not really worth getting into, because that is where the false notion of morality comes into play, and morality varies from person to person, culture to culture. All we are, are receptors. Our bodies and minds are made of nerves and senses, and all we do is perceive. Like a light being turned on. That is all life is. Very simple, no need to make it complex.
Karma doesnt need a "God" to exist. Im not really sure how someone could think that in order to have karma...you must have God. There are four types of Karma that are recognized in the Eastern World.. Sanchita Karma, which is all the karma we have accrued from all of our previous lives. Prarabdha Karma, that portion of our total karmic backlog, destined to play out in our present time. Kriyaman Karma, the fresh karma we are producing in this lifetime And... Agama karma which is our plans for the future on which we have yet to act, the karma produced by our thoughts. Westerners believe that karma means that if a person is hurt, or assaulted or is born with a deformity or something like that..that it means something terrible has happened to them in a previous life. This is a terrible oversimplification. But what else can we expect from the west? heh
Got to wonder about the crazy accumulation carry-overs from mad long ago, like that Tsunami and Katrina. Well, Katrina may be more modern, maybe only say....250 years or so?
Kind of funny you should mention that... A lot of the karma playing through our lives is actually not personal. Its group. Theres no underestimating the impact of the way our personal karmic flow blends in with that of the people close to us and with our culture as a whole. So..when you look at the karma of two prosperous first world countries.. The United States, has an incredibly high tolerance for violence. Violence is glamourized on television and movies, firearms are readily available to just about anyone. In Norway, theres zero tolerance for violence and firearms are carefully regulated. The karmic result is that the US has the highest rate of violent crime among all first world countries. Norway, has the lowest. If youre karma is to have a bad day..in Norway it might mean that you slip on your skis and break your legs.. In the US, due to the power of collective karma...this may mean you get mugged on your way home from work. It has nothing to do with you personally...but the karma of your culture is playing out through your day. In countries where the old gods are no longer honored, the intelligence forces of natyre are no longer recognized. Large corporations may feel free to pollute the enviornment. A child who developed in the womb in a toxic neighborhood may be born handicapped due to the high level of poisons the culture tolerates in its landfills and water. Its not that the child deserved to be born that way...its that a culture who poisons its enviornment has karmically invited the birth of genetically damaged children...etc...etc.
One thing you are badly mistaken is karma isn't JUST about good deeds or the opposite, it's about life .. . Actions that govern life ... You don't need a God or Goddess to control the effects of karma, you only need you. . We have the free will to create our own future ..
some of you guys are trying to Westernize it, as though Karma were just about being paid back for sins or good deeds.
I basically thought karma was just "you get what u give", or "what goes around comes around", guess i was dead wrong.
Karma is the cause of actions .. not the effects .. to my understanding In simple terms .. yes .. but not quite accurate .. . It is not only our current lives, but our past lives . (also I'm sort of 'fuzzy' when it comes to karma, so feel free to comment / correct me)
I dont think people who beleve in "Karma" should have to beleve in any god (Especially if its the christian god) I mean come on Kharma and Darma are a part of the Budist religion arent they?
I wouldnt call myself christain..more like "custom". Regarding many near-death/paranormal experiences, outcomes in my own life, and certain ways of life in various religions is where i come up with my own beliefs towards everything, like my own religion. That just came from my blazed little heart.
