I went to the city with my girlfriend yesterday as she wanted to look through the clothing stores.
We walked to the train station and caught the train since it is hard to find parking in town.
"Your feet are going to be so dirty from wearing no shoes to the city!" my girlfriend laughed as we sat on the train, "I can't wait to see how they look!"
When we arrived in the city we got off the train and walked around the shops.
There were lots of people looking at my shoeless feet as my girlfriend and I walked around looking at the different clothing stores.
My girlfriend took me to one of the upmarket clothing stores she liked to visit and when we got to the door I asked her whether I should wait outside since the store looked very fashionable and here I was not wearing any shoes on my feet in the main part of town.
She said to one of the shop assistants, "My boyfriend is barefoot, is it okay for him to come into the shop?"
The shop assistant nodded, I could tell from their surprise that this was the first time someone had walked inside the shop barefooted.
At lunchtime my girlfriend and I ate in the main food court of a shopping centre, people occassionally looking sideways at my bare feet.
"Bare feet are such a novelty to people." My girlfriend observed, "It is interesting to most people to see someone barefoot in the city. I am so glad you went barefoot."
On the way home my girlfriend and I were sitting on the train and I crossed my leg, which showed my dirty bare sole.
"Oh my gosh, look at your feet!" my girlfriend laughed, "They are absolutely filthy! I have never see them that dirty before!"
"City streets are really dirty." I said, "I've been walking around all day in grease, dirt and general filth so it has all transferred onto my bare soles."
A lady sitting opposite my girlfriend and I looked at my unhygienic bare sole and asked where my shoes were.
Before I could reply, my girlfriend said, "My boyfriend has just been released from prison and hasn't got any shoes yet."
    "Oh." the lady said.
I looked at my girlfriend who winked at me, having totally made up the excuse.
Later when we got home my girlfriend laughed at what she had said as the reason for me not wearing shoes.
"I couldn't think of a reason to give so I thought it would be funny to make one up. It certainly stopped them asking questions!" she laughed.
My girlfriend said I looked great going barefoot to town and said she may go barefoot herself next time.

I agree! It's one of the most contrived stories I've ever read.
    Give us a break!

I'm not sure if this story is genuine or not, but I was barefoot around town in Portsmouth (UK) for 5 hours yesterday and walked about three miles to and from the beach at Southsea. I'm so vain that I couldn't resist a mirror on a mall wall.....

I too like city barefooting, particularly in London, where the streets are fairly well kept. My favourite place for it there is the underground, normally tube travel is very tedious but done barefoot it becomes almost an adventure. Especially on the escalators...

Further to the above, the only place i've ever been refused entry because of my bare feet was HMH Belfast, they said the deck was too rusty and sharp.

It was a hot summer day. I saw a Mr. Softee truck parked at the curb so I pulled over and went to get an ice cream cone. There was a motorcycle cop in front of me. When she saw me get out of my car sans footwear she said "Don't you know it's illegal to drive barefoot?" I told her I slipped off my six inch Gucci stilettos because my feet were hot and I thought it was safer. I didn't want the heel to get stuck under the gas pedal. She said something about Prada being more stylish and I guess I mumbled something about that Prada and the Devil movie. Next thing I know I'm arrested for driving barefoot!

When I was released from prison, I was given a cheap suit, cheap shoes and a $10 note. I traded in the suit and shoes at Goodwill for $10 and bought a T-shirt and cutoffs. I wandered around the city barefoot, my feet got very dirty. I met this barefoot woman in the park. We compared soles. We gave each other a foot massage and she tried to tickle me but my feet were too tough. We fell in love, got married barefoot and are now living happily ever after. I donated my Gucci heels to Goodwill. I just couldn't find a dress to match them anymore........

Sounds to me like either a bit of a fantasy tale or a slam-dunk for a massive lawsuit against the state, as there are no statutes in any US state against driving barefoot.

Prison for a driving misdemeanor? Yeah, right. Perhaps you were really arrested for driving while cross-dressing, "barefoot GUY"..:bs:

    > I see absolutely no sarcasm in that post.

Thank you! Who said women weren't smart? Just because there may not be a statute in the Motor Vehicle code stating that driving barefoot is illegal, neither is there a statute stating driving nude is illegal. These laws are universal, not particular to motor vehicles. Going barefoot into stores and food establishments is also illegal. Just read the sign at a McDonald's entrance. This is under the Health Department laws and regulations. A restaurant can lose its license if a Health inspector sees a barefoot patron therein.

All this aside, I sensed a negative attitude regarding my choice of attire. Maybe sometimes I just want to go stylish and Gucci 6 inch heels do it for me. In the winter I like my fuzzy Mickey Mouse slippers. Women wear suits and some have facial hair. Let's all respect each other's choices.

With all due respect, I'd suggest that you do a bit of research before posting erroneous comments. Please reveiw the links I posted previously. I'd also recommend that you do a bit of research about statutory law so that you'll understand the difference between it and cultural norms.

You may wish to note that in the US, EU and many other countires, the police are only able to enforce statutory law. They cannot arbitrarily arrest you for anything other than breaking a statute. Doing so would constitute false arrest, false imprisonment, harrassment, and any number of other serious legal offenses on the part of the police. You would therefore, as I stated previously, have very strong grounds for a lawsuit against the state. Any competent attorney would jump at the chance for a suit such as this and would likely work on a contingency basis.

For those interested, please note that there are no laws in any state in the US against driving barefoot, nor are there any health regulations in any US state regarding going barefoot into any retaurant or store.

Promulgating myths about barefooting is counterproductive and serves only to perpetuate negative stereotypes. Once again, please research before you post.

Note: My previous post was in no way intended to be derogatory towards cross-dressers, but was meant as sarcastic humor, given the outlandishness of the quoted post. Appologies to any gay/lesbian/bi/trans-gender/cross dressers or others who may have inadvertantly take offence.

With all due respect, I suggest you consider all that you read and not just the words. I admit my posts were 100% sarcastic, bad humor and completely false in their claims. I also intended no offense to males who wear female attire, gay/bisexual/lesbian/transgender/transvestite or alternative lifestyle practicioners. Just look at my Gallery and you will realise my preferences in (lack of) footwear.

The problem is that there are folks who seriously espouse the beliefs you were stating. Likewise, there are folks who could read your post and seeing that your (sarcastic) beliefs echo their own, use is as ammuntition against us.

Perhaps a few smilies, a <sarcasm> tag, or (humor) entered into the subject line would prevent misunderstandings in the future.

(The ironic bits about Goodwill were kind of funny, however) :)
