Why would you protest dog slaughter and not cow slaughter or chicken slaughter? If it's based on intelligence, pigs are smarter than dogs. Why not protest that? And hey, if you want to make it international, protest the slaughter of guinea pigs in ecuador. Different cultures eat different things, it's colonialistic to bash them for it.

And women are smarter than men, right? Get real. Not every pig is smarter than every dog, no matter what you've read. How do they evaluate intelligence? Pigs respond "better" to certain stimuli, so they're smarter?

And I see you're one of those people who loves to ask, "Why are you fighting for that cause when you could be fighting for X, Y and Z cause?" I think RebelFight summed it up.

Just because someone's cause is different than yours doesn't make it any less worthy a cause. So get off your fucking high horse.

As far as the dog slaughter, I doubt they'd stop it for an online petition, even if everyone who signed it was Philippino. An online signature signed almost exclusively by foreigners? No way.

here are a list of other places that also participate in dog consumption
    Arctic and Antarctic
    Canada
    China
    India
    Indonesia
    Korea
    Mexico
    Nigeria
    Philippines
    Polynesia
    Switzerland
    Taiwan
    Vietnam
    Native Americans
i have to agree with nalencer. its not going to stop for an internet petition. eating dogs have been part of other cultures forever. dogs are plentiful there and they do not see it as eating a pet, or eating an intelligent animal.its just like eating a pig or a cow. if you eat meat...any meat, you are eating an animal. so what justifies eating a cow that does not apply to a dog? its a good thought, and don't get me wrong, you should always speak out for what you believe. but just because you love your pet dog doesn't mean that others should cut out a resource of food. people have pet cows and im sure that they are great friends or whatever but...its still a hamburger to other people.

The slaughtering of dogs does suck, but so does the American meat industry. What a heartless, evil industry that the majority of us gleefully support. We turn a blind eye to the organized slavery and murder of creatures who lack the ability to do anything about it.

I'm not trying to be a nag, but we really need to stop this meat monster now, before it gets any worse. Meat is not an efficient enough food source to support a population this big. We are destroying our planet and making a miserable mess out of nutrition.

The alarming health concerns linked to a high meat diet, the cruel treatment of the animals, and the terrible consequences of such a costly (for earth) profit racket all point towards one heaven;y solution:

EAT LESS MEAT. (I wish I could animate some divine ray of holy line to shine on this)

PS. Oh and I'm sorry but eating dogs is pretty fucking idiotic. Dogs, being a secondary consumer, only yield 10% of the energy of the cow, pig, or whatever (usually a mixture of all of 'em, and a bunch of other shit) they eat. You'd get very unhealthy very fast on a diet of canines. Eating meat is unnecessary, but eating a carnivore is just pure dumb.

Oh well. In a small way I find it comforting to remember that people are as stupid in the Phillipines as they are here.

Who said that women were smarter than men? Calm the fuck down. I was simply pointing out that I think it's dumb for people to get all emotional about other cultures eating something just because we don't eat it in this culture. I'm sure Indians feel the same outrage about us eating cows. It's just cultural differences and people have no right to impose such cultrally-specific values on other people. That's the same line of thinking the Spanish missionaries used when they fucked over the Native Americans.

I never said it was completely unworthy, I was just asking why it had to be so species-specific.

    Exactly.

Sorry, but I must have taken your statement that a 14-year-old boy is on the same level as as a five-year-old girl the wrong way.
