I second DSOTM's suggestion, Al di meola and paco delucia are some damn good spanish guitarists. And John Mcclaughlin is my favourite guitarist period.

with a trio you gotta worry about sounding too muddy. You might wanna make sure every has a different sound/style, otherwise it'll sound extremely shitty. Maybe you can pull off a droning sound, but the guitar can't do that as well on its own.

I'm gonna have to agree with those 2.

Al Dimeola is one of my favorite guitarists , with Paco and John very close.
One Night in San Fransisco is and absolutley astounding record , showing the skill and integrity of all 3 players , letting each of them shine equally and evenly. Give it a listen for the jam of a lifetime.

    Aha , I sound like an infomercial![IMG]

My 1st thought was also "Friday Night In San Francisco" but, on the other hand, if you are just starting then this may not be the best place for you to start as they are sooo good.

There must be music clubs and venues in your area where you hear as well as see others doing what you plan to do. Take the good ideas of others and used this as a basis to start a sound and style of your own.
