I'm in NE England, and certainly feel closer to Scotland than I do to southern England. You'll not get me on camping trips while the weather's this crappy like!

    Welcome to the forums :)

well I'm from southern England and always felt more at home in Edinburgh than in the north of England. Glasgow's pretty cool too.

BTW I used to live in Embra, not just join in the annual migration of London's smart set to the Festie.

I didn't mean what I said to be a dig at the south, by the way :)

Why do the Northerners have such a grudge against the Southerners in England?

It's not like the Celts and English grudge, is it?

I don't think I have the grudge personally. I'm not a London fan, it's far too busy for my liking and I avoid the place at all costs! But southerners in general are a-okay if you ask me.

I do know people who openly admit to...not disliking, but certainly not admiring southerners. And I reckon, to put it in a schoolyard context, that they think northerners are the ones skiving and sneaking off for cigarettes and southerners are all swots, with snooty accents and sharp suits :)

But I dunno, it's one take on it.

i'm form Scotland, was supposed to go camping at loch lomond at the weekend there but it was a no go due to the typical unpredictable weather.. that's one thing you can rely on is the weather being unreliable.

I have no grudge with the English either and i can't understand why people can say in general that they hate the English, or vice-versa.. :/

I don't like southerners and I have no rational reason for this other than,
    HATE, HATE and more HATE!!!!!

    With a dash of jealousy.

Scotland is not a place I have been too often. I have been twice in my whole life. Apparently it is very cold but certain villages boast some of the best Lobster and fish one can get off british shores.

I am young and may travel up there one day. It takes a day to get to Scotland by car and about 6 hours by train from Kings Cross or Euston.

I am strictly in the Southeast part of England.

Its because northerners are just basically your average joe worker who likes nothing better than racing pidgeons, greyhound racing and a pint with a steak and kidney pie.
they say "Eee bah Gum" a lot and they also talk shit about how hard they work and about how their dads would work from 6 in the morning till 5 in the morning and then would only eat at weekends etc
They are workin class people with no aspirations, whereas southerners are sophisticated and not like those yokels and bumpkins
