guys check this one out, its by Salman Rushdee
thankfully its a world apart from his bleaker, more controversial, and unfortunately more well known work.
Anyone know of some rockin' good books out there?

Have you ever read Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson? or if you like more political books, i rather enjoyed Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail by HST as well. That one is about him following Nixon around on the campaign for Presidency in the States back in the 70's and how much of an outsider he was compared to all of the conservative right-wing people that were in the campaign and press core.

    Still a trippy book. :)

What sort of books interest you?

yeah i love Fear and Loathing, books better than the movie. what u think?

i havent actually read fear and loathing on the campaign trail, whats it like, along the same lines of gonzo journalism i assume?
most fiction is for me, for a little while i only read big people books but now im starting to accept that "teen literature" might be worthwhile i.e Junk Melvin Burgess
At the moment im reading Dangerous Liasons, its very good.
what are you reading these days?
    By the way im Peter

Hi Peter. :) welcome to the forum

The book was better I agree. I did however like the movie, and obviously Hunter S. Thompson thought it was alright as he was involved with it.
I did really love the film. I in fact have two copies of it. The Benecio Del Toro lawyer and Johnny Depp Hunter really worked for me. They felt like the 'real' characters of the book, just the story was missing a few things and some aspects were in reverse order which was strange.

The Campaign Trail is very political and a lot deeper. Not as much the drug and crazy trip that you get with Las Vegas. Again he's working as a reporter for Rolling Stone and he has to fly around with the Press Corp as Nixon is running for President and unfortunately becoming President. It's a lot about how out of place he felt as he was the only 'drug-crazed' hippie amongst them all. If you like things a bit deeper I would definitely recommend it.

I'm presently reading Acid House by Irvine Welsh. There's a Sticky thread where people can update what book they are currently reading. :) So feel free to post yours there, and keep us updated as you discover new books.

There are a lot of great authors out there. I recommend also reading some of the threads people have shared about books they have already read. :)
