i dig it for the most part, i grew up in a small close minded tobacco town so the beach is a good breath of fresh air, the beachside towns just depend on what you are into, wrigthsville is really richy, carolina is nice and chill, kure is the same, masonboro is pretty chill,

i just wish they had better bands come through.

im looking for pretty chill with good vibes and a bunch of people around my age. I dont know if you're familiar with folly beach down here in charleston, but if you do, im looking for this kind of mindset. Folly is starting to be built up, and a bunch of us kids cant afford to live out here anymore......if its not the affordability, it's the availability......it used to be so easy to find a place to live around here - now they are turning a bunch of available spaces into vacation rentals........

....it sucks, because i really do like it here, but its changing. its like seeing your best friend change and turn into a different person, and there's nothing you can do about it...funny thing is, they still advertise Folly as a "bohemian beachtown".....well, us "bohemians" cant afford to live here anymore!!!

hm.. wilmigton and new hanover, brunswick and pender counties are growing very rapidly. so if your trying to get away from development you might wanna check out oak island, southport or ocean isle beach

you will be like a hour from anything though.

Wilmington could be one of the most beautiful hippie friendly havens in the country, i used to go there a lot but now up at school in North Dakota, still come down for shitty surf and smoke...peace

I grew up on Ocean Isle Beach. In the late 70's there were miles of undeveloped ocean front property. The last time I was there was in the 90's and I was surprised at how populous the place was. I'll bet I would be blown away now.

wrightsville is by far my favorite beach around here, although the cops are total pricks. carolina is full of rednecks, kure is full of people from nebraska for the summer, never really go to atlantic, but topsail is a nice getaway cause you can usually find a place to yourself, same with masonboro.

I just spent a week at North Topsail last week. Very nice. Waves were a little wimpy when I first got there, but they picked up by the end of the week. Definitely one of my favorites. Plenty of room to breath.

I lived in wilmington for 5 years and really liked it. I met alot of cool people while there who love to party. The beaches are all good, but getting too crowded, but I like to go to Ocean Isle Beach, or holden beach about an hour south, or another hour south is Myrtle beach which is a a great place.

And "freeinalaska", Ocean isle is growing just like the other beach towns all along the NC coast, all high diollar shit too. its a shame really because its becoming a place for those with money and not really for regular folks. I used to own Sharkys Pizza, the only pizza delivery store on the Island to this day. I wish I had not sold the place, its a rocking little spot now. Ahhh hindsight...
