    hello pretty lady,
    the dread looks kick ass,
    no need for rubberbands,
the "plain old hair" at the end will fix itself in due time,
patience is difficult, but worth it :)

You can try to help it along by doing a few things, that you may have already read in the forums:
    -lemon juice + sea salt
    (rinse it out!)
-rub some wool on it (I rub upwards towards the root, like backcombing)
    -palm roll

last but not least, when you've got them all in, wash those babies! :)
good luck. The first one looks fantastic :)
