VLC has a load of things built in, that's always worth a try.

    sudo apt-get vlc

just for anyone else in a similar situation, when you install ubuntu, one of the first programs you should install is always easyubuntu. it gives you all the codecs you'll need (minus .flac and such) plus a few other nice software tweaks like integration of video into firefox and a .zip program. . .

    That is exactly right.

    *edit*

btw, songbird is not a finished program. it is very cool but it is still being developed by the programmers. to import music, go to 'add media' or add somethin.

You should try amarok for playing music.

or you can do it graphically by clicking on this link:

Adderall-Whats the difference between MP11 and Amarok?-I have never heard of it-Also' I'm using a program called Express Movie Downloads-20 bucks for 2 years and they give you free converting and burning software!-The downloads are super fast' using Bit Tornado w/ Torrent Spy and Mega Nova-I used PC PITSTOP to run a battery of diagnostic tests and check the bandwidth-It's running and downloading superfast now--I'm up to about 6 completed videos overnight! And I have DSL!-I'm goin broke keeping new blanks in the house-lol!-Again-thanks for the torrent tip-Limewire can go away now!
