Reading this kind of shit really makes me angry. Not just upset, but totally fucking angry. Revenge for this would be totally justified in my opinion, and they deserve to die alone with nothing but their conscience and their empty rotting stomachs.

 

There are some sick and evil people in this world. I wonder what trauma in childhood led them to commit such a horrific act.

We should look into their past and seek how best to rehabilitate and intergrate them successfully back into mainstream society. We cannot possibly think it's just to punish them without first understanding why they did it.

 

not just the act of it that is fucked up but the two who have been charged so far .. look at their ages, they are just kids themselves one's 14 and one's 16.

i find that just as disturbing. makes me wonder what their families must be like honestly.

That's completely fucked. I feel sorry for that boy, who's life is probably going to be in shambles for a long time/forever now becuase of this.
I can't believe the two were boys themselves though. It makes me wonder what kind of life they've had to be able to do something so horrible.

 

Does anyone feel that maybe modern culture as in films and music may have any bearing on their behaviour?

 

I've never been one to really believe music and movies drive people to do these things. I watch fucked up movies, violent movies, and likewise with some music, and I am not violent in the least. I'm more interested in their home life, what their families were like rather then what they were watching or listening too.

 

no because people have been doing sick cruel things to each other for thousands of years , I hope the kids eyes are ok and their lucky not to be dead .

and you will find people acting cruel in all races , white people have been very inventive in the cruelty stakes .

Games/music/movies do not create criminals. In fact, I'd much rather have someone live out their sadistic fantasies via a video game than in real life.

Messed up shit has happened for thousands of years.
Just now people don't take responsibility for their actions or for their lack of parenting skills that make their kids come out twisted, instead they blame it on games/music/movies.

 

I agree with all your points about art and it's influence and don't believe in censorship. But I'm beginning to feel that sometimes that artistic influence can have an adverse effect on some people. For these people (kids) to carry out this crime their thinking has a grounding somewhere, I'm just trying to think of how they may have came up with that idea. I don't think a subjective point of view is valid though. The; 'I've watched.... and I've never done.....' Just doesn't wash.

Crime isn't a new phenomina. Society was probably far more violent and less forgiving even 80 years ago nevermind a 1000. Even though acts like the one described is unusual and I can only believe rare.

Could it be a case as we are in a world with 24 hour news reports most stories are adding to our moulded and shaped opinion and beliefs around the fear of a growing criminalized society?
