the guys a beast...he posts on another of the forums i go to. he's a good guy. he runs an awesome site, i read over the things he writes at times
It's great he's so fit and looks healthy but i think fruitarianism is a little crazy. No cooked food, what the hell? But then again alot of people must think i'm crazy being vegan.
You sure cooked food aint crazy then? Why should we be the only "cooked" animals? (we have a hell ova lot more diseace and sickness then wild animals )
I'm not sure at all. You've definetly given me something to think about. Do you really think we have so much disease and sickness because we eat cooked food?
That's certainly given me something to think about... Part of the reason I became vegan is because I felt that the vegan/"herbivore" lifestyle was healthier and I think that my health has improved since I became vegan about 2 years ago. Eating uncooked food certainly seems possible and even appealing in some senses but in terms of variety, it would be a bit limiting wouldn't it?
If you're interested, www.living-foods.com has loads of good articles and a alot of fun people on the message board. I've been vegan for quite some time now. But eating soy simulated beef and chicken tasting hotdogs, burgers and so on, doenst really make much sense too me. Cooked foods, meat and dairy are highly addictive (milk for example has showed to contain small ammounts of opiades, the same addictive chemical that's in heroin.. cool ey?) The people on the raw food/ living food / fruitarian diets look and claim to feel great. And they don't appear to be "lacking" in any of the "essential nutriens". So who do we belive? The researches (who are funded by meat industries and cooked food companies) that say we need cooked food, Or do we listen to the people who are actually experiancing raw food? And whatever like, just try it out and see how it affects you =) Thats the general pitch for raw food =P Seem's pretty basic and logical to me. But hey, find out for youself! =)
Oh, and about variety. Do not fear. Just pick up a raw food book, or search the web. There is tons of variety to satisfy most needs. Raw pizzas, Raw sushi, "pasta"... All made out of raw plants, fruits, nuts, sprouts and so on. But many raw foodists say it is most for the transition. When your body gets used to eating fruits and stuff in it's natrual state, you won't winge about "variety"... And there are like 400 different types and advocado. And 600 types of citrus fruits.. So just fruits do come in loooads of different tastes =) I love fruit btw ^^
being raw is the most amazing experience ever!!! it's like going from "oh hey, here i am, alive.." to "hot damn, i'm alive!!!" i wish that i could inject people with this feeling so that they would understand what its like to be raw but since i can't i can only encourage you to start eating more raw fresh fruits and vegetables and live closer with the earth and yourself!
I agree, you can get really high on raw foods sometimes I tend to eat more grounding heavy raw foods but I've definatley had times where I feel like you described... Cooking food definatley does increase your chance for cancer and degenerative diseases...especially baking things which creates a lot of acrylamide in food which is highly toxic and it's been found that people who eat a lot of baked food have much higher cancer rates. People who bake are usually baking some kind of oil or flour which is even more dangerous, "Western death food" as Truth Caulkins calls it..... Microwaving is obviously extremely dangerous, no explanation needed there. Fryed oils are carcinogenic and contribute to heart disease and the dangers of fried foods are well known... Steaming is probably the safest way to go but you have to consider the metals foods are cooked in can seep out into the food if their not high quality pots and pans(I forget which kind are best right now) Not to mention many essential nutrients are very heat volatile, like enzymes, vitamin C, amino acids like Trytophan, and probably a lot more....Fire turns things to ash and takes away from substances, it doesn't add nutrients to them. It's really just common sense when you think about it.... So, who's going raw now??? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhztTi-XRXs
