about an ex boyfriend of mine whos in Iraq. I worry about him a lot, and I cry after he calls because its so heartbreaking that hes 19 and there for a year of his life. (yeah i know he signed up for it but it doesnt make me feel any better) I guess im just looking to get some positive energy and any kind of prayer towards him...(his names Chris hes a marine) and a little support for myself, and you guys are always great at that.

    Peace and Love,
    Gin

*hug* It's really a hard thing to deal with when you have friends in this war. A very good friend of mine just turned 21 last week and is already serving his 2nd tour of Iraq. Every time I get the chance to talk to him, it's horrifying. If I miss a day hearing from him, it's almost crippling how scared I get. Sometimes it's worse to talk to him. He enlisted when drunk but apparently up in Alaska, they really don't care. He had misgivings about the war but now he is all out completely against it and it's hard to be the sounding board for him while he talks out his feelings about what is going on.

I also have 2 friends at West Point, 2 friends at the Air Force Academy, and one friend at the Naval Academy. While they're safe for now, one will be graduating in a year and who knows where they'll end up.

How often do you get to talk to him? What makes me feel better is when I get a short email from my friend almost daily. He seems to have plenty of internet connection which I don't know how common that is (my friend who was a marine that has been back for 2 years said that they had no access... so I guess it depends on where you are). You have to think positive thoughts. I read online newspapers so I can avoid articles about the intimate goings on of the war that would be found on TV news reports and a conventional newspaper.... hearing about bombings and incidents there is just not healthy when you know someone there.

Stay strong! I'm sending all my positive energy out to you and Chris. Both of you just need to hang in there.

Yall are so supportive on this board. Silverclover thats how i feel all the time. I talk to him every few day, but not long ago he went a week without being able to call and I couldnt sleep well until he did.

I have several more friends leaving soon, and two that just got back. Its Horrible to have to worry so much. And you very right about the media coverage making it worse. I feel like im going to cry everytime i hear about another soliders death, and just pray that he stays safe.
    Love,
    Gin

Well, it would be ironic to be talking about peace in this circumstance-if we weren't in this war you wouldn't be having this problem. But you can rest assured that my love and best wishes are here for both of you. I just know things will turn out all right!

meanwhile, 19 year old chris perhaps would be responsible for a few more death's in iraq

whilst i understand where you're comin from ..the scores of men, women, children dyin there ..apart from every possible infrastructure bein razed to ground, takin a generation back a generation! reflects the need for humans to feel the pain of every human sufferin, not just a chris or wendy they know
