i say good morning and hello to people in the street.but people are so reluctant or just too rude to say anything back.what happened to people greeting one another!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Did this ever happen ? . I always think a person who says ''hello'' to me in the street is pissed. It is a little arrogant imho to presume people wish to speak with you or say hello - especialy if you have only seen them once. Sure I say hello to ''strangers'' I see quite frequently. Random people I pass by ? i'll leave that to the drunks on park benches.
Manners are quickly becoming a thing of the past. Service personnel often do not respond when they are greeted. In my experience, it's more common in larger cities. When you get out in the country, people seem much nicer.
i say hello to people when its just me an who ever around , like when im biking on a country lane , an i only say it to people middle aged or above
I'd return a hello to a stranger, but I wont greet them first. If I end up sat somewhere with a stranger, on a bus or something, I'll occasionally ask how it's going. Even that's kinda rare though. Or bartender's from my local. I think it's really weird when you see them on the street!
i tend to nod and wave at people frequently. nothing too major. it's mainly a population density thing, though, i think. if you greet EVERY person who goes by you, you're goign to get carpal tunnel form the waving, and TMJ from the billions of 'hellos.'
I remember as a boy having old fellas say hello to me in the street. Then again when the invite into their home or car was followed straight after with a. 'Little boy'; maybe all wasn't as innocent and sincere as I once thought......ummm.
That's the townie attitude to take. Out here, people think you're damn rude if you don't greet randoms whilst strolling down a country lane. I find it interesting how it changes from country to country also. I always thought smiling at people in the street was kind of a universal practice, but when I first got to the Czech Republic I used to get even more cold looks than usual, when I smiled at people.
