hi guys, im thinking of moving too australia soon when i have a bit off money and that ... but i was wondering what australiaslike as ive never been there on hol or anything ? how much money would i need if i was to move there to keep me going? where would people recommened the best place to move to? and what are people like over there? advice is much appreciated
Hey there jessie james. Australia. Its an interesting place. Mostly desert... Until you've been there you can;t really picture it. The land itself; the vegetation and climate is significantly different to anywhere else. The air is dryer, the soil redder, the sky bluer (from a gas that comes from the eucalypt trees that cover this land... it also makes anything from a distance look blue), the grass and plants are less green. There are heaps of insects, especially in summer. If you don't like snakes and spiders in might not be the best place... Coz its a big land the actual climate is different depending on where you are. I'm sure you'll be able to figure out which direction is warmer. I personally recommend the Eastcoast. Its where most of the population live but there aint many of us so beautiful nature is always close by. If you are looking for cities I recommend Sydney or Melbourne. Sydney is more fast paced, has better weather, nicer beaches and where the big bucks are. People can be rude and traffic is terrible. But I live here and love it! Melbourne is a great city. Its more "cultural" and arty but aint so beachy... If you don't want to live in the city don't go past Northern NSW. Byron Bay, Nimbin and the surrounding areas are BEAUTIFUL, the population environmentally conscious with lots of people interested in developing their souls. Money: Okay, I'm not sure what currency you are on so I'll work in Aussie dollars. If you are reasonably confident of finding work (at the moment our economy, riding on the back of selling the world lovely climate changing coal, is going off and there are lots of jobs) you'll probably only need a few thousand to set up house and have some fun until pay checks start rolling in. Sydney is shitload more expensive than anywhere else (but you'll make more too). People: Like any place there are good and bad. The worst thing is Aus is there is a racism problem, but unless you are Koori or Murri (aboriginal) you'll be sweet (except the feeling of guilt every open minded Aussie suffers from because of this issue...). The good thing is we are a really relaxed people. We have a million different ways of saying "its all good" or "she'll be right" "no worries" and you'll hear this sentiment so often that before long these mantras will sink into your soul and you too will know "she'll be right mate!"
Those who are racist, i believe until today in their life they have never travel out from Australia not even once. You can complain about people attitude or character but not racism, those Australian whoever practicing racist are just a loser who worry of themself being beat down by a people they seen that are from third world. Australia has a big land, population are just too small compare to its land size. In order help the economy boom, government are trying to import those outsider into Australia, ofcourse people will choose to stay in the metropolitan in the first place then spread into further outter suburb when the city is too crowded and when only those who are multimillionaire can afford a house near the city. Racism is everywhere, just like my recent post, Adelaide is the worse, the rest of the part in Australia you may be could consider to settle down. The whole Melbourne is like Chinatown, Sydney is like a second Thailand, Adelaide is like an India, Perth is like a Malaysia/Singapore. Darwin?i am sure it would be your last choice. Australia people are racist because they never expecting that a people from third world country can be so smarter than the local, and one more thing, they only thing Australian could complain about is those incomer can not spek good english. So sad, you guys. That makes me feeling like an smart adult compare his IQ with a little kid. We are not from a county where english is our first languange, although not a fluent, atleast we can use a little english word to communicate, we are learning fast just like u may find it hard to travel in Japan cause no one speaking english, and what if those little smart Asian laughing at you to say "this english guy can only speak english, we can speak Japanese, a little bit english, may be French but Australian only know English". Racist, never judge a person base on their background. Asian are more humble and polite and friendly then most of the local people. So why Racist since you are not doing good on yourself too.
hi there agian, thanks for all the help so far ... i think im gonna go out there for a hol first to see what its really like but it seems like a beautiful country from all the piccies ive seen from it ... sped- im from england :leaving: lol i just wanna get out this country and see the world people seem really nice just from what ive seen on this forum
Hi Australia is amazing!!!!! I was out there a few years ago and we're moving out there hopefully before the end of this year. I went last time on a working holiday visa. You need a grand in the bank, about £100 for the visa and flight money and thats pretty much it...... although maybe a little bit more than a grand would be good if you're planning on a few weeks before working and you're going to a city first. You get to travel around and work in different places and meet loads of people, and if you're thinking of moving permanently out there you get to see which bits you like best. Hope you get out of the country soon. I'm quite enjoying the miserable summer this year.... I know I'm going to get a better one this winter!! x
go on a working holiday visa if you work three months in that time you get another years extension to the work visa (i think, check with the government web site)
