Got a single plant growing. It's about 2-3 months old. I don't know anything about this. How do I know if it's a female plant, and how long until I should expect some budding? Is there something I need to do to it to get the ball rolling faster? Any help would be great.

look for the little white hairs at the nodes, if u see little round ball sacks and hairs its a hermie, if you see just little balls than its a male, and depending on the strain it usaully takes 6-9 months if its outdoor just let it grow and if u can post some pics it would be easier to help you, good luck.

You don't, that's why growing one unknown plant is pretty much an invitation to disappointment!

" - - and how long until I should expect some budding?"
About another six or eight weeks, or so.

"Is there something I need to do to it to get the ball rolling faster?"
You could cover your plant with light resistant tarps so it thinks it's getting 12 hrs. of darkness, at the same times everyday - but that's a lot of work and it was to be like clockwork!

In the mean time, "Read, read - study, study - learn, learn!"
