Hey folks, I have just finished dividing up my hair up into sections, and am just about ready to begin back-combing... However, I have some doubts as to whether I have divided up my head adequately. At the moment, I have about 20 or so dreads of varying sizes in total over my entire head. I made many of the dreads larger than the recommended 1 inch, often going for as much as 1.5-1.75 inches (or somewhere around that - these are all estimations...). So my question is what kind of a number of dreads is typical. It seems to me that I might have divided my hair up into overly large chunks... I'll try to see if I can get a photo up, but that is pretty unlikely. Question 2: Is there anything I should do specifically before dreading? (i.e. anything I should apply to hair, steps I should take, etc.) Thanks again; you've all been a great help! peace.
dude everybody has different amount of dreads its what makes them cool. i have over 40 but mine are thin...some people have like 10...some over 100. and..just do it man it will be fine. to help u might want to give it a sea salt water wash and rinse but i didnt and mine are fine. gd luck dreadin dude
here is a thread from a while ago about how many dreads people have http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=222413
I have naturals and usually it seems naturals are fatter and less of them.. I have 50, semi-thin ones. I have thin hair, so when my hair was wet it would always divide up into small clumps, I could tell where dreads would form before they ever started.
How thin is your hair? I have thick asianish hair and I have 31 Dreads, they started off quite thick but theyre in the shrinking process.
