is on my left nipple, its a straight bar. ive had it in for 4 days now. i clean it every night with clean hands and Q-tips. using Salvon antiseptic wound wash. (chlohexidine gluconate :s) i tried to clean off a little bit of the crustation on the bar and the whole bar moved from side to side, which means it healed a tiny bit yeah? or has this just knocked back the healing proccess??? :( it still hurts 4 days on but thats exspectedi hope, but i love it to bits. i put on a new plaster every night and keep it on till the next night after work. is this ok? and my next question is when it is fully healed ( 10 -15 weeks my peircer said) can i take it out and leave it out for a day or something just as i dont want it to get caught at work or anything, but ofcourse i will put it back in on the night time.

    thank you

well when I got my lip piercing it was sore for a long time. then i got this medicine called campho-phenique (you can get it at wal-mart for like 4 bucks) and it would make it numb so that the pain wasn't so bad anymore and it made it heal really well. might be something you want to look into.

youll be quite lucky for a nipple to be fully healed in that time.. 3months is very fast..

Everyone is different.. but this is my two cents. I got my nipples first pierced a while ago and I did what you are doing.. Qtip and antiseptic. That was bad news. It is really harsh and is an overkill. They never healed and I eventually took them out. I decided to get them redone years later and they hurt as much if not more than the first time. The suggested aftercare was quite a bit different. Take a shotglass and do a seasalt soak. 1 Tablespoon of sea salt to a gallon of purified water. Take the shot glass, fill it with the mix and if you want, warm it a little. Lay back and soak the nipple for 10 mins or so. Do this twice a day and when it heals more you can stop that and just clean it in the shower. I have had my nipples pierced for about 18 months and they are prety much healed. They can be slow to heal so your piercer telling you 10-15 weeks for a complete heal may be a bit optimistic
I do not recommend you take it out ever if you can help it. It may be a challenge to get in if left out too long. You just have to be aware that it is there. It is harder for us guys because we don't wear bras, so you have to be more mindful so it won't get caught on anything. I never sleep without a shirt anymore for this specific reason.
I later got 3 genital piercings and have successfully cared for them the same way.

all you need to sucessfully heal a piercing is sea salt soaks (bit of sea salt in a glass of warm water inverted over your nipple for 5-10 mins-- lol, just realized you said that sunny days ;)) and MILD soap in the shower. i would never put something as harsh as antiseptic wash on my piercings. many people can heal despite harsh treatment of piercings, but my body is very sensitive to piercings and doesnt accept them very easily.
you also do not need to rotate your piercing. this disturbs or tears the forming fistula (tunnel of healed skin) and drags crusties inside. try soaking the crusties in sea salt soaks and gently cleaning them off with a wet q-tip once they are soft.
its very unlikely to be healed at 15 weeks. nipples usually take a long time to fully heal, like 6 months in many people. youre not going to want to remove and replace it all the time once it is healed and i doubt it will stay open if you take it out, even for a few hours. youll just have to get used to it being there. you could use PTFE or bioplast (can someone tell me if these are the same thing? lol) jewellery, its flexible and might be more comfortable.
piercers are self-regulating. there is no one to inspect them or check to make sure they have their shit strait or are running an ethical practice. judging by the advice he/she gave you, i wouldnt go back there. get infomed, find another piercer and ask lots of questions to make sure they know what theyre talking about.
anyway, congrats on the piercing! i had mine done but took them out some months back.
if you have more questions about aftercare, etc, i can dig up some links.
