Hi all, I've been interested in starting a podcast for a while now. I think the format is gonna be a lot of fun. Me and a bunch of my old college buddies getting together and discussing new technology - cell phones, computers, software, hardware, bluetooth - you name it - we're gonna cover it. I'd like to interview people too. But, logistically, I'm curious if there is software available to help me bridge the distance barrier between me and any guests that I meet online. I can't think of how to record an interview unless my guest is in the studio with me, which might not be possible very often. Does anyone know of any software that might take care of this issue? Also, it would be great if there were programs available to help me catalog, manage and publish (to the internet) my shows once they are recorded. Does anyone have any advice?
Most podcasts setups invlove 2 PC's (one for laying mucic and internet phonecalls and one for recording the output from the board) a mixing board and a standard POTS phone. and microphones... When you go to record you would use the microphones for in studio people. Music and internet calls would be done using a PC conected to the boards in line. The second PC (connected to the boards out put) would be used to record the boards output (which is the mics and the PC.) When recording the recording PC is used ONLY TO RECORD. Audio can take a lot of resourced t record so you want to let it do that and only that. An aitional output would be used for a set of headphnes so you can hear what is being output (and then recorded). Now you can use programs like skype to make the online phone calls. However the only problem with this set up you when you are on phone calls you will use a seperate micropone the you would to record you just talking (which durring a call you will want to bring down so it's not picking up audio, only the one for the phone would be picking up your audio.)
