The first time I ever smoked Salvia I had no idea what to expect, and since it is legal, I figured the effects would be weak if anything at all. So I packed a fat bowl of this 40X, fortified leaf (which I know now to be extremely potent) with the intention of smoking the whole thing and then probably having to pack another one after that. Being a pack a day smoker as well as an avid cannabis smoker my lungs are adept. So with my first hit I inhaled as much as I possibly could and held it in 'deep' for about 20 seconds. As soon as I exhaled I felt a slight tingling in my body and prepared to take another hit. But before I could put the pipe to my mouth, I noticed that the table where I was sitting, as well as my entire kitchen, had somehow become cylindrical in shape and was now slowly revolving all around me. I remember commenting to myself how unexpected this was, and after only one hit I realized I should probably put the pipe back down. I sat back in my chair and watched with amazement as my once recognizable kitchen had become a spiraling tunnel of colors and energy that I was no longer sitting in but was now a part of. It is difficult to put this into to words but it felt as though layers of my body were rippling out in front of me, circling around this beautiful tunnel and then connecting again behind me. This rippling sensation continued for about a minute or two and although I had never experienced it before it seemed very familiar. Softly but swiftly my kitchen and my body returned again to its normal form and I sat there staring at my pipe, in awe of what just happened. Ive had a handful of experiences before with Shrooms and Acid but the Salvia journey, although very short lived, is quite unlike anything I have ever experienced.

Other than a crazy tactile deja vu, Salvia had little effect on me. I actually found it quite unpleasent. But tactile hallucinations are rare on other substances so the plant definitley has some worth. I prefer the classic psychedelics though. How exactly does Salvia work on the brain. Anyone know? It doesn't stimulate the serotonin system like classic psychedelics do.

wow, glad you didn't have a bad trip =D

I had a friend that tried 15x (first time about 90lb little guy) and he said that he was sent to the medevil ages and was in a battle. So yeah slavia gives very "real" hallucinations and it is safer than the other plants that give "real" hallucinations.

    just a thought

at the start it's like your blood is metallic and there's a pulsing magnet (maybe even like the tide getting pulled in/out with the moon) switching on and off pulling your blood towards it.

but the rippling i think you're talking of is generally experienced a lot with salvia and i believe the direction in which the rippling takes place goes with the first movement of your head, in whichever direction that goes. Mostly i look right so it appears to me as if i'm standing inside a 10 foot book with my back to the spine looking straight out and the visuals of the trip are on both sides of the pages which flip over constantly..

    hopefully you can picture that..

you guys describe the visuals well.. kev, i see the same sort of thing, every second it seems as if a page is turning. it's a very very strange sight, but magnificent.
i love how you really do sort of 'mold' into things.. become one with any sort of object.. i don't know, it's such a difficult thing to try to explain. it's like nothing else i've ever experienced or imagined.
anything can happen on a salvia trip. i mean mentally..

salvia is a disassociative so it just blocks certain receptors in the brain from processing information i believe.. other than that i have no clue how it's effects take place, but i've envisioned some straaaaange shit on this magical plant

It's a kappa opoid agonist, these types of agonists all produce a psychotomimetic effect, which basically means they mimic the symptoms of psychosis, like a loss of contact with reality, hallucinations and delusions and usually dysphoria which is the oppisite of euphoria.

It interacts with kappa receptors, other than that we know little (there has to be more to it then the kappa receptor interaction).
