I am planning to travel to Australia, and to possibly find work there... I have just one question in mind... Would it be easy to convert a tourist VISA to a temporary working VISA once I get there? I plan to work only for a couple of years...
The immigration deptartment will make you juggle flaming wombats whilst tightrope walking over a pit full of crocodiles as they shoot cheesecakes at you from cheescake cannons. Well maybe not exactly, but the immigration dept will make you jump through the metaphorical hoops... But we need workers so you should be able to swing it after the customary hoop jumping. Alternately, you could just work for caaaaaash and don't worry about your visa details. Lots of people do it. Cheers J
Hi I'm currently in the process of moving to Australia, first on a sponsorship visa and then hopefully applying for residency. The Australian Visa people are quite tight on their rules. If you want to change the type of visa you are in their country on, you can apply for it while you're there, but you need to to leave and re-enter the country for the new Visa to be valid. There are loads of different types of visa and ways to do it. here are the 2 I know about. You can get a job offer over there and get the company to sponsor you, but they have to be able to prove that you have skills that are in short supply. You can also apply for independent skilled migration, which takes a while and you need to pay a lot for it. Have a look on one of the websites with a points calculator and you can find out if you have enough points to work there independently. I hope thats useful. When I was out there last time we had to extend a friends visa because they were in hospital and we had to have alsorts of documentation proving why, where when and how, and that we had enough money for the extra time they were there! They like sticking to their rules and they're really strict!!!!! ps. the queues in the immigration office last hours!!!
Um, I don't want to immigrate, just work for a year or two. Should I get an agency? Can anybody here direct me to an agency website? Thanks
